Do You Want A Fruitful Business?

Do You Want A Fruitful Business?

Have you ever looked at someone’s garden in awe of how beautiful, bold and magnificent it looks, secretly wishing yours could look the same?

I’ve got this incredible rose garden in my yard that just keeps getting better every year. Neighbors and people passing by can’t believe how it looks and ask me what I do to make it look like that. The reality is, it doesn’t just grow that way, it takes nurturing, care, and dedication to produce a beautiful garden.?

I know you’re not here to learn about my rose garden, or are you? Stay with me for a minute. How can we apply this same analogy to our businesses? Your business is the garden. The roses are the product of your time and energy that you invest throughout the year - they are the fruit of your labor.?

Let’s take this analogy a little deeper.?

Here are three ways you can grow your business by treating it as though it is a beautiful garden:?

  1. Nurture it. A thriving garden requires lots of water and rich soil that is full of nutrients. There is a labor of love that is required to help it grow and thrive. This is the same concept for your business. You have to invest in your mindset and your skills in order to grow. Consider mentorship, coaching, or training opportunities. The richer you become in knowledge the more fruitful your profits will be in your business!?
  2. Clear out the dead leaves and weeds. Every year we trim down our rose bushes and are constantly clearing out the weeds to provide optimal conditions for growth. This concept applies in many ways to your business. Let’s start with your physical space - your office. Do you know how many offices I walk into where the desk is covered in paper and there are piles of junk lying around? Just imagine being a potential client or customer walking into this space. Would you want to sit down and talk business? You will also want to consider taking care of looming debts or toxic employees that are preventing your business from growing! Remember, clearing out the deadfall is just as important as nurturing the crop in providing the optimal growing conditions for your business!?
  3. Be Patient. Believe me, my rose garden did not grow big and beautiful overnight, and neither did my business. In fact, it has taken many years to become what it is today. So often we are looking for instant gratification for the investments we make in our business but the truth is, all the best things in life take time. Believe that it is worth it and when you have the end in mind you can see how close you really are to achieving the fruits of your labor.?

“But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control.” -Galatians 5:22?

When I walk outside my home and see this amazing rose garden, I often reflect on what it took to create it. I have the choice to neglect it as well. It is all in the choice. When I look at my business and see the fruit of my labor, there too, I see commitment, and hard work that has created something I am proud to represent.?

My question to you is how do you need to be tending your garden?
