Do You Want Deeper Fulfilment in Your Career & Life? The Mindset You Will Need in 2023.
If you've been following my work I've talked a lot about career re-invention and how by changing your values you can change your career.
More and more people are starting to reconsider their approach to work.
I see it in my 121 coaching practice and the self-development groups I'm privileged to be a part of.
People are really thinking about three things:
What they want from their jobs. What they don't want from their jobs and what's really important to them.
We are seeing all this play out with the media continuing to write about the 'Great Reshuffle', 'The Great Resignation', Quiet Quitting etc.
What I find when I peel back the layers is this:
When people are thinking about what they want and don't want, whilst reassessing their values, ultimately, they are looking for deeper fulfilment in their careers & lives.
I can resonate with this wholeheartedly as it's what I felt on my journey of change.
Now is the best time to think about the Mindset you will need in 2023.
If you've followed me on other platforms you will know my message is simple.
Don't leave planning and preparation for your 2023 goals until New Year's Day. It doesn't work like that. The reward is the action you take from now until the end of the year that will further strengthen your mindset going into next year..
Eluid Kipchange, the greatest marathon runner of all time said this:
"I don't believe in Success. I believe in good preparation and planning"
To find deeper fulfilment you will need to understand that having a growth mindset as you embrace change and find fulfilment is crucial.
I find optimists generally have a growth mindset along with people who are curious.
They want to know more and feel more. Fixed mindsets are generally referred to as people believing that it has to be this way. They aren't generally optimists who are open to change. Quite the opposite. Be aware of this and recognize it.
It's a behaviour trait that can hold you back.
The 3 ways to strengthen your Mindset.
Adapting to Change.
The biggest belief you can adopt is that change will have to happen and that change is normal and you need to be flexible and accept if things don’t always go to plan.
Wanting deeper fulfilment generally means things haven't quite gone to plan, but thats ok.
Maybe you had an idea of what you wanted to be and set yourself some very long-term goals early on in your career, but then things took a different turn, or your priorities changed, or you realised now you actually want something else for your life. That’s OK.
Checking in with yourself to see whether your goals and your career trajectory still align with your needs and values is crucial, and if they don’t, changing course is perfectly acceptable. In a post-pandemic world, we should all adopt this growth mindset.?
Finding deeper fulfilment in your career will require adjustment. You have to be willing to accept this. Changes can also be made in small increments and grow over time. It never has to be a colossal change. It can be made in stages.
Willing to Put in the Work:
I say this frequently but nothing happens unless you happen.
Any progress is a result of your actions, those first steps all the way through to those key decision moments. I think life progress and aspirations generally come from challenges way out of your comfort zone and can take time but ultimately you have to put in the work.
The key thing here is that by taking action, working through any struggle of change will result in the rewards you seek.
But you have to be willing to take those first steps and actions in the first instance.

Willing to Make a Sacrifice:
How you frame sacrifice is really important here. I believe making a sacrifice doesn't mean you have to give things up. It can be more about achieving balance and it certainly isn't about giving up things you love.
But at some point when moving towards deeper fulfilment in your career or life for that matter, they may be some sacrifices or adjustments. But here's what I know about sacrifice;
It is temporary and you will adjust.
For me, I've also felt that the easy options aren't necessarily the best options for me so the harder options generally require a level of sacrifice.
So there you have it. Adopting a stronger growth mindset as we move into 2023 can lead you to find deeper fulfilment in your career and your life but always remember that at some point on this journey, you will have to:
How much you do of these principles to find deeper fulfilment is down to you!
