You know the reality of truth is every writer, singer, politician, speaker, philosopher, and teacher success is based on the audience. Their jury is the audience. Now how the audience will be convinced depend upon their art of articulation.
You would have been through many teachers, entrepreneurs, scholars whose presence, lectures make you feel not only comfortable but take to another level of stardom imaginations. And then these imaginations turn out to reality. So the power of words can’t be denied. That is why with every job you will see a good communicator as a job description. Teachers with no articulation skill are never accepted by the students. The same case implement for politicians, entrepreneurs, entertainer, scholars their success mostly shaped by the way they present themselves
Being Articulative personality
1. Start listening to the Influencers:
On top of everything without listening and just putting our own egotistical ideas first we are missing out on life not just in our rhetoric intelligence also our content. And I had experienced it personally that how difficult it becomes to be fluent, on the move by just relying on reading bundles of books which we pile up in our brain but unable to express them in real-time to add value in society, our circle or even someone life. So we become unable to execute our imaginations, our knowledge, and creativity which we have in our DNA and which we have learned. When you started to listen, great well-known entrepreneur, marketer, politicians, theologians depending upon your interest you become able to put your knowledge into words. I am not boasting but want you to know the fact that many people around me say how do you write some much, using beautiful choice of world and my answer is simple I don't write form google, from books rather what I have experienced I give them meaning and the way I give them meaning is the result of being under the shady of amazing speakers.
2. Be Emotionally Intelligent:
This is one of the most important factors which most of us are deprived of and failed to close the sale, make a successful deal, convince the audience and satisfy the students. Why I have noticed this is because on any forum I am encountered with many emotionally volatile personalities making things plateau.
In emotional part we have two extremes:
Heart-devotees:
In any walk of life, we see people who are very much emotional that they make the audience feel to run away from them and not listen to them except a few who themselves are emotional. Either he/she is a marketer, religious preacher, teacher, a public speaker, program manager, political leader you will find this weakness in people from all walks of life as if it's in their DNA.
Brain-devotees:
And then we have another extreme, people who don't talk about the emotional sanctity they just win their idea on the basis of the critic, rationality and science i.e (1 + 1 = 2). And this is where a few of the Z generation would believe in and will follow it and many of the X generation and Millennial wouldn't satisfied.
So we forget the balanced approach. Everything at one extreme is evident to be biased. People liking a political party so emotionally that they forget to use their prefrontal cortex leading to rational thought in deciding what's right and what's wrong even when some might be wrong we always come up with a justification, accepting the weakness in our own knowledge or some theory we are following is the one most important skill grounded in the instinct of a good articulator. A good articulator doesn't always try to prove himself right. He doesn't have a segment rather he target segments who change the trend and wrong perspectives in people mind about some ideas.
I have seen students giving some religious speech getting emotional to a point where the audience isn't comfortable, not caring about the diversity of audience which necessarily requires rational, logical shreds of evidence followed by emotions which make sense to them and this is why people are being atheist when confronted with a weak articulator who can’t relate things. Similarly, many politicians, entrepreneurs, marketers. That is why emotional intelligence is highly important.
3. Know the context:
As a marketing background student I have Internalized a formula and that is:
Target right audience, at the right time, at the right place, with the right message
And this is what we forget when selling something, convincing the audience, teaching students, presenting a project to the team and especially preaching. If we don't miss any of the elements explained above including, time, place, a segment of the people and our content then I am sure we won't lose the deal and this is what an employee of the year do and eventually ranked to be the best influencer. When we are preaching we forget to what class of people we are talking, when we are teaching we forget which grade and which level of students are in the class, when we are selling, we under our overestimated imaginations cover the wrong region and the result leaves us quite sorrow. And so simply it's all about the context which we forget to keep in mind. Apple knows who are their customers and target them at their level. Samsung knows the level of its customers and produces its campaign, adds, conferences, a symposium at their level. Have you ever seen any hanky panky environment on LinkedIn than Facebook, Instagram? Never, and so this is the perspective, a plan, a complete story behind their success And so they are the great articulators.
4. Try to be Multi-lingual to be interesting to a wide range of diversified audience:
This isn't that much mandatory but it adds value in our personality as a speaker. And if you are really interested in having foreign tours, interested in different cultures and you enjoy languages you must take this step seriously because it's not an easy step as others but think of it that there are only 2% of the world population who speak 5 languages and only 3% who speak 4 languages and by doing this you can stand among this 5 % which is very differentiating point.
5. Come up with your own personal content, experience on any social platform:
We feel vulnerable in front of the camera and this is the characteristic of a weakest Articulative person. People might open their account with the hope of getting ranked best on YouTube but when it comes the time of posting videos they change their mind from posting their own personal videos giving some tips, or personal experiences to posting some podcasts, some cartoonist news just being afraid of social rejection and you know Introversion.
But you know our vulnerability open many opportunities. We should be courageous enough in getting vulnerable otherwise we can't get to the point we are desiring for just by sleeping under the blanket. We will have to showcase our abilities, we will have to get out of our comfort zone. Otherwise, we will be among another statistic of excusers sitting aside the shore-line dropping the stone pieces in the river cursing our luck.
6. It's ok to get #Germanized, #Arabicized, #urduized but #Englishization is a must required thing:
This is for those who are extremely patriotic that their pseudo nationalism results to a point that they become the slave of their own language and hate other culture, languages. I am writing this with full confidence because I have seen many people with this mindset and years back I used to feel the same looking at people speaking English as if they are not patriotic and they just boast upon other language but this is completely foolish thinking. And this has nothing to do with nationalism rather it can help stand you out in a crowd of people from different countries for your exceptional abilities otherwise you wouldn’t be able to share with the world what you have, what you can do and you can isolate your country. Especially in this era when the distance have finished world is a global village.
People love to be multi-Lingual and I know this from very close experience because I am also deep in love with linguistics. Being native Urdu speaker learning English from elementary have been a faded experience and I didn't remember how did this all learning process of English happen. But learning basic elementary to conversational Arabic has been a little difficult experience and It demands passion and learning with fun. And my next target is German or French. But remember one thing its okay to Germanized, #Arabisized but you as an Articulative influencer can't afford unless you learn English at its best. Otherwise, you will lose a huge audience.
So all in all these are all those factors which I have observed in a number of public figures and it may be a street gem who knows when to talk, how to talk, where to talk. They don't just talk for no reason.
To conclude this article remember this your career development is very much depended upon how you speak, how you present yourself, how passionate you are about your interest and how much you talk about it, how large number of connections you have relevant to your interest and how do influence them.
#MerajKaleem : I share what I learn personally. And by doing so what I learn become my conviction and this strengthen my direction in figuring out what good I didnt do in past and how can I improve this.
