As I am writing this, Ben Stokes, England's World Cup Cricket Hero has been given the captaincy, what a man, what a legend!
BUT,
Not even 1 year ago he had announced he is?taking?an "indefinite"?break?from all forms of?cricket?to "prioritise his mental well-being".

Would this happen in the 'business' world?
Would someone who was going for a senior position be allowed this promotion after announcing such issues?
I would like to believe the answer to be YES but I still believe we are far away from being accepted in the corporate world and society.
I was just about to type the following but then I realised its total BS
Linkedin is FULL of posts of people declaring their mental issues, you might like comment or share the post if that person was applying for a promotion, would you have them running your business?
The point I would change there is Linkedin in FULL of posts, I'd actually say its very few people share the struggles they go through because of the fear they will judged and it will affect their career.
I feel they are well within their right to feel that way because its still very much still a taboo.

Now, can you twist this and make it work it your favor about how you faced adversity and got through the dark times, saw the light and came out stronger than ever?
Yes you can but you best have your story straight in that interview
I hope this news of Ben Stokes being given the captaincy of the England Cricket Team can be used as a case study but it will only be used if England turn things around and start winning again, otherwise I'm sure the headlines will read, "Stokes loses his head," "The captains not all there" "Someone help this man."
Every day we go through struggles, some more than most and sometimes we're told
"it's not that bad, think about the homeless, think about issues in X and the problems in Y"
Yes they're issues that need to be resolved but it shouldn't take anything away from what you're feeling, you shouldn't be judged just because your issues don't make the news.
Thank you for reading this, I saw this news breaking this morning and it really got me thinking and its something I really felt I had to put out there.
Sometimes when I write like it just flows out of me but might not be articulated to the level needed.
Ben Stokes, do our country proud, you have my support (for what it is worth)
