Do you talk with people when you travel or do you avoid contact when you can?
I talk with people. Sophia (my wife of 6 years) is still learning to embrace this facet of marriage to me.
On my flight to Albuquerque today I was upgraded for free (whoo hoo). A few minutes into the flight the flight attendants announced that only limited service will be offered (bummer). When it came time for my Diet Coke I mentioned to the flight attendant that I heard about the limitations but I had a “hankering” for a stroofenwaffle treat. She sadly reminded me of the limited service. But acted like she wanted to say more. I worried she may have had a bad stroopwaffle incident that I was reminding her about. I’m not sure what that incident would be.
Ten minutes later she again approached me looking like she had been crying and conspiratorially handed me a stroopwaffle in a way that other passengers couldn’t see.
She said, “My dad used to get a “hankering” like you. He’s been gone 25 years. I haven’t heard that word in 25 years till you mentioned it a few minutes ago. Thank you.”
I said: If I say the word again can I have another one?" (If Sophia is reading this I didn’t get another one). #frequentflyer, #unitedairlines
