Do you suffer from amnesia at work?

Do you suffer from amnesia at work?

It's more common than you think. 3 out of 4 employees show symptoms, at least once a day, when interacting with a customer. Some suffer amnestic episodes multiple times throughout their shift! Interestingly, studies show similar numbers with mid to upper level management in relation to their own employees.

It's alarming, and can cause some scary and even dangerous interactions with customers, but there is good news.

Work amnesia is 100% treatable! Better yet, in most cases, with the correct treatment, it is curable!

While the treatment does show great results and high efficacy rates, some have complained that it is a bitter pill and have difficulty swallowing it.

Recognizing symptoms is an important first step, and catching it early can significantly reduce treatment time.

If you find yourself increasingly frustrated or losing your patience with a customer for asking you what seems to be a basic question or maybe something that seems rather obvious to you, you may be in the early stages of work amnesia.

Somehow you have forgotten that outside of your work environment, you are also a customer. You may be unfamiliar with how certain goods and services work. You may also be unfamiliar with the correct or preferred process for something you don't do regularly. You may be "that customer" to someone else.

Understanding and recognizing that, as a customer, there may be times when we also don't know what the heck we are doing, are frustrated by how others have responded to us in our time of need, and find ourselves lost in the process, is the first step towards recovery.  Beginning every workday reminding yourself that you are also a customer, is the best way to ward off workplace based amnesia.

*if during this treatment, you experience symptoms of elation and satisfaction which last more than 4 hours, consult with your manager for possible career growth opportunities. **results may vary.
