Do You Struggle with Blogging Niche Analysis Paralysis?

Do You Struggle with Blogging Niche Analysis Paralysis?

My friend and fellow blogger Morris Grande made a great point with his recent comment:

When he says “months or years sometimes” he is not kidding, exaggerating or being over the top about it.

I have seem similar bloggers spend months or years attempting to niche down. Some desire the perfect niche. Others want to make as much money as possible.

All suffer from FOMOOBS: the Fear Of Missing Out On Blogging Success. Curiously enough, spending months or years trying to whittle your blogging niche down into an iota of a niche becomes a self-fulfilling prophesy.

Hell yeah you miss out on blogging success! For months or years!

Analyzing a niche to induce yourself into a paralytic state does not prove your:

Succumbing to analysis analysis proves that you are another “p” word:

Scared bloggers who fear either success or failure analyze, wait, resist committing, delay, hold back, wait, then analyze some fear until fear seems to cripple the individuals.

One direct way through analysis paralysis exists.

Think about this process differently.

How to Think About?it

Every second that you sit on the blogging sidelines trying to niche down is a second spent not:

  • gaining inestimable blogging experience
  • learning blogging
  • practicing your writing
  • creating helpful content
  • building relationships with bloggers
  • driving traffic
  • positioning yourself to earn blogging profits
  • building a foundation for your blogging business

Spending months or even years trying to pick the ideal, niched down blog topic is self-sabotage. Fear scares you into doing deep analysis which prevents you from becoming a successful blogger. Why?

You need to actually begin blogging to become a blogger.

Someone who does not pick a niche never blogs. Someone who does not blog drives zero traffic and zero profits, gaining zero blogging experience in the process.

Shit or Get off the?Pot

My mom shared the above commonly held talisman of wisdom whenever we delayed, hesitated, hemmed or hawed on any decision.

Pick a niche or get out of the way for the next blogger to pick a niche and to begin succeeding.

Unfortunately, no one waits for you, your perfect blogging niche and your blog. The ego is insane enough to believe that human beings who have no idea who you are (because you have not started blogging) will wait for 6 months or a year for you to pick the ideal niche. Sane minds understand that during that 6–12 month stretch, human beings simply become loyal:

of bloggers who spent a few days or maybe 1 week picking a profitable niche that they feel passionate about.

Don’t you ever believe that people are waiting for you; they’re not.

Don’t you ever believe that waiting, flip-flopping and hesitating will make you happy, successful and free; it won’t.

Shit or get off the pot.

Picture the Fish?Analogy

If you overcook fish you consume shoe leather.

If you undercook fish you run to the bathroom every 5 minutes; both ends.

Cooking fish “just right” makes for a pleasing, nutritious, easily-digestible meal.

Picking a blogging niche is like cooking fish.

If you spend months or years over-analyzing and niching down you will never enjoy the sweet spoils of blogging…..because you never actually begin to blog.

If you desperately, greedily, thoughtlessly and mindlessly grab at a niche in a few seconds or minutes because you want to make money quickly or you just want to blog about something that is on your mind (without considering demand or market research, aka, “if people will actually read it, buy your stuff and hire you”) you will struggle, fail and quit sooner than later.

Don’t overdo it. Don’t underdo it.

Find the sweet spot to niche down and to actually begin blogging.

How to Niche Down and Begin?Blogging

Right now, while reading this post, set aside 1–2 hours for the next week to do niche research.

Set a niche-selection deadline for 7 days from now.

I wrote a helpful guide for you:

How to Pick a Blogging Niche

If you skip the daily 1 hour research sessions or miss the 7 day deadline you are afraid to blog.

If you fear to blog you will never succeed.

At that point, either quit blogging or give yourself 24 hours to pick your niche.

You choose.
