Do You Stop ??? For Popmaster...? ??

I don’t know if you’re listener to BBC Radio 2? If you are, you’ll be aware of the institution that is POPMASTER.

Sir Ken of Bruce, (no relation as far as we know to the famous Scot, Robert ‘The’)… has been presenting Popmaster for 25 years a quarter of a century!!

Happy Silver Anniversary Ken.

Here’s me and the great man himself…

We created and donated a special award for a Live Popmaster event in Manchester in 2017.

Me n’ Callum take a break around 10.30 Monday to Friday to tune in to 2 rounds of the nation’s favourite radio pop quiz.

Way back in February 2008, I rang in to give it a shot... all those years DJing paid off as I managed to get a full house of 39 out of 39.

Callum is my Popmaster apprentice...

I always think of the 1970’s TV series Kung Fu..

Kwai Chang Caine as a young boy snatches the pebbles from his Masters’ hand and he then tells him...

“Grasshopper it is time for you to leave...!!”

I don’t think I’ll ask Cal to leave if he beats me, but he is sneaking up on the rails…

We’re going to contact the Show to see if we can go head to head on air…?

Look, if you’re going to embarrass yourself and lose to your PopMaster Apprentice, go and do it while a few million people are listening!!

If we manage to get on we’ll update you…

These were the questions I went through when I was on 13 years ago…

The questions fell as follows…

For the bonus round I selected the category - Heeerrrees Johnny!!!

I’ll leave the answers off so you can see how you do yourself

1.Complete the title of this 1978 No.1 Matchstalk Men?

2.Released in 2004 what was the first top 40 hit for Franz Ferdinand?

3.Bonus Question – Played ‘Shattered Dreams’ what was the name of the band?

4.Name the group who had a 1967 No.1 with Baby Now That I’ve Found You?

5.In which year did the top 3 feature –You Can’t Hurry Love - Phil Collins , Electric Avenue – Eddy Grant, Down Under – Men at Work?

6.Bonus Question – ‘What A Night’ a No.1 in 1954 who was the singer ?

7.Who had a hit in 1985 with Trapped was it Major Abrams – General Abrams or Colonel Abrams?

9.Bonus Question – Played the 1974 solo hit ‘Hang on in There Baby’ who was the singer?

10.Who had No.1 hits in the 90’s with following songs… A Different Beat, You Needed Me & All That I Need?

How did you do on the questions?
