Today I would like to make you think about expectations.
If you are not clear what you want your employees to do, how can they know?
As a guideline, it is always good to remember that you will get what you expect.
I am often surprised by how many people come to our workshops who don’t put any thought into what specifically they want to learn.
What is even more surprising is that the managers rarely have a conversation with their direct reports and ask:
A good dialogue between a manager and an employee seems to be missing.
For many business owners and managers, communicating their expectations can be a real challenge. They assume that the people know what is expected of them but the reality is that more often than not, they don’t.
We are all different and we cannot expect that someone else knows what is going on in our minds.
Expectations fall into two main areas:
Why do I think behavioural expectations should have priority over performance expectations? Simple answer: They are the foundation of everything else.

Performance expectations relate to desired outcomes and results.
Communicate your expectations clearly, trust your team members, and expect the best!
