Do you rule the day or does it rule you?

Do you rule the day or does it rule you?

Somewhere I read about the "Two Minute Rule”. What if I say that more than 80% of work we do takes less than 2 minutes. Just think of the works you do in a day and list out the tasks that takes less than two minutes and see. like grooming yourself, keeping your clothes/things at their place, washing your plate, switching off lights/fan etc when not in use, locking the door, filling water bottle for fridge and lot more. Now the Rule is “If a task takes less than two minutes, Do it Now! ” This this the first, easiest and most effective way of stepping towards discipline and quite funny to follow if you have someone with you following this.

From my own personal experience of planning my day even while I was a student or working in companies. My mother inculcated this habit in me at an early age as she believed that if you wake up early then you can remember what you study early hours of the day and most successful people in life have this habit too. Once you finish your early morning rituals then do some work out/ exercises in the morning. It will keep you active throughout the day. I do meditation and yoga for 30 minutes it really charges your mind batteries as well as improves breathing and circulation of oxygen to the brain and to the body.

This is followed by brisk walk for an hour or so to complete 5 km distance. Before starting the day have a plan of what all you will be doing that day. During the walk you can listen to soft music and also plan for your day very well. Before executing each plan work it out once mentally and then start. Also while going to office if using public transport you can always make use of that hour to manage your time for the meetings during the day. Never forget to take small breaks whenever necessary. This will help you from getting bored.

Also the important power naps after lunch break for 10 mins helps you recover from that sluggishness. Oh! They do really work. Have small naps of 7–10 minute duration. This will increase your productivity after lunch, because whatever you eat at lunch always puts your system down for a while and once you have this power nap, this gives you a momentum to pick up your mind and body together and then restart your systems very well.

In the evening make it a point to spend some time with friends and family. They are also important and will help you relax. Listen to their stories of the day and show interest how the day went for all other family members. And at the end of the day, think of what you did today. Point out the mistakes you made and try not to repeat them again.

I normally shut of my internet at 11 pm and never open it before I wake up so that there are no disturbances due to unwanted notifications and messages hitting your mobile all the time.Basically plan to sleep well from 11 to 5, this 6 hours of deep sleep is normally sufficient for our mind and body. It is ideal not to watch TV or mobile just before sleeping but read a book for a while so that your eyes don't get tired due to bright light. Therefore if you rule your day well and manage your time without any haphazard working model, you can always rule the day and not let the day rules you over. Cheers!

Thanks for sharing KISHORE SHINTRE . Your well being and mental health is of utmost importance. Appreciate the reminder that our 24 hours of the day is definitely in our control.

I think these can be true for most but may vary with persons. Anyway it is our duty to rule the day.
