Marketing is broken in 2022, and here's a little taster as to why...
I'm going to spend 5 minutes scrolling through my Facebook news feed on my mobile phone and share with you a summary of the ads I'm served as a coach in a list below (remember this is just in 5 minutes of scrolling):
Ok the last one was a bit of fun as I am actually considering some automated blinds for my house.
But the best-worst scamiest ad by far...
"Get done-for-you Content For Your Entire Marketing Funnel for Just $5.60 (reduced from $67))"
Do you know what all of these Ads are promising you/me?
A quick fix, hacks, shortcuts.
And the most obvious thing here is...
...all they're trying to do is sell you their thing.
There's no real value here and if any of the things above actually worked would any of you be reading this right now?
No!!
You'd be working your arses off serving all of the clients these shiny things have created for you.
So...why do you believe any of the bullsh*t you see/read on social media, especially in ads?
Well, here's a home truth.
Remember that time you wanted to lose weight without going to the gym or giving up chocolate?
Well, this is exactly like that, only this time it involves your business and acquiring new clients.
What I've come to realise is, when I'm not enrolling clients it's because I'm not going to the gym or working out enough...sorry, I'm getting my analogies mixed up.

Basically it's when I get lazy, complacent and feel the world owes me something, so I'll throw some money at it and that will fix the issue and I'll get clients on tap.
Start Showing Up in a Meaningful Way
The reality is, if you can't get clients it's likely you're not showing up. You're too focussed on making money (or the lack of it) that you forget about solving meaningful problems for the world.
When you're building YOUR website...are you solving a meaningful problem for the world?
Setting up Google Ads - are you serving a client or are you just serving ads to people?
Posting on social media... but is it about telling people about what you're doing, or finding creative ways to help prospective clients with some real value?
Answer this question...
If you weren't getting paid for the work you do would you continue to coach, consult or freelance?
I'll start...
HECK YES!!
I'd rather be poor, homeless and destitute than take on clients if they're not a good fit and I definitely wouldn't try to serve them just for the money.
The money comes as a by-product of doing a job well done and serving with integrity and congruence.
Sometimes it's hard...you have to turn away clients whilst perhaps struggling financially. Deep down though you have served your client well by NOT taking them on, and this is ok. You HAVE to be OK with this.
Saying, "No!" to the wrong client creates space for the RIGHT CLIENTS who you can shower with value and insights and who will be happy and willing to pay whatever you ask.
Which means having a business with FEWER clients...not more. Half the clients and double the income is a good goal. It provides you with finances, freedom and most importantly fulfilment.

2 年Less is more. Rather take on a great client who will pay you $5,000-10,000 than 5-10 "meh" clients who will stress over the $1k they gave you. Not worth it...

2 年I came here because of the strikingly matter-of-fact meme you posted! Made me laugh! ?? But reading the post I can offer this little morsel input from what I have experienced: I find it almost impossible to gain new clients, purely because of what I believe is a perception. I’ve tried advertising, sponsoring, emailing the direct approach and none of it has worked so far. The only avenue that has worked is through acquaintance, but even then, it’s often not a sustainable relationship due to perception. Admittedly, I don’t apply myself to new business to any great extent, simply becuase I’m at a loss as to what to do to…so I keep plugging away in the hope that one day a new client may be interested in what my business offers. Now, new clients would be awesome for my business, as I could expand, develop the businesses offering and hopefully grow. To say that a business doesn’t need new clients is phooey. I have however learned three things in trying; Nobody will buy what you offer unless they need it. Peoples perception of capability against price overrides common sense. And there are many, many businesses offering what I do..and they all think they can do it better! I don’t even know if what I write makes sense! ????
It's time to take control of your back pain & stop letting it control you!
2 年Yes I like this a lot. Resonates in my business too. Many people just want to go to a therapist and be fixed by the therapist putting their hands on them (you know what I mean ??). But the reality is, it's a longer term plan of consistency and and effort that will get the results. And also knowing when the client is the right fit. Funny how we can see it in our own "doing" (client delivery) but then believe the quick fix crap when we see it thinking it's any different
