Do you really know your why?
Every year when I cross the finish line of the Kalahari Augrabies Extreme Marathon there are people, younger, fitter and better trained than I am who didn’t make it that far. A very few will have been unfortunate and suffered an injury, the rest didn’t make it because they didn’t fully understand why they had entered a gruelling 7-day self-sufficiency run. An event that takes place in the extreme heat of the Kalahari and puts the mind and body through an extreme experience.
If you know your why you can master the hows and overcome all the difficulties. Knowing your why allows you to dig deep to discover the resources you need. Yes, you need to be trained and prepared; if you know your why that will happen, but that is not enough, things will not go according to plan so you need that little (some times big) extra and knowing your why gives you that.
The same principle applies to achieving anything big in life or business. So, discover your why.
Every weekday morning for the past few months I have been visiting South Africa (virtually) at 7 am (now the clocks have changed it will be 6 am) for WISDOMS? chats, relaxed business discussions on a whole range of topics. I have been impressed with the knowledge of the participants and their ethos and have enrolled in their affiliate programme and am promoting the primer for Life and Business Success. It is a programme that gives you access to a mass of material for a super-affordable investment – effectively $1 a month. It will help you find and nail your why. You are going to have to dig about a bit to find what is right for you; however, there is a guided route.
Why such a low investment? To understand that you need to know the WISDOMS? why. The material has already been used successfully in other settings and ‘washed its face’ (covered its costs and earned a crust) any further sales are icing on the cake. I’m mangling metaphors here. WISDOMS? dream big (and achieve); their aim is to have over a million people sign-up to Life and Business Success. In the motor industry, you either sell a few Rolls Royce cars at a high price or lots of Fords at a low price. WISDOMS? are doing something different – lots of Rolls Royces at Ford prices. That really is changing the paradigm.
