“Happiness is planning a trip to somewhere new, with someone you love.”
—Marie Cribaillet
What a trip!?For 12 wonderful days my family and I toured Greece, the Greek Islands and Turkey.? It was an amazing vacation and we all enjoyed it.?I even practiced what I preach, by making—and sticking to—a plan:?a 2-week vacation of being completely unplugged!? None of us brought our laptops and we only used our cell phones to reach each other by text (“What’s up?”) and a few short calls to the parents.?It was completely liberating.
Don’t you look forward to a vacation??There is the planning phase, the execution of all the planning, and then the recoup phase.?I had been counting down the days to our Grecian Adventure since January, when we booked the land and ship tour of Greece.?There were a lot of expectations leading up to this trip, and it turned out even better than I ever expected.
I would highly recommend Greece as a destination point.?We enjoyed swimming in the crystal-clear beaches along the Aegean Sea.? I saw and enjoyed some of the most beautiful beaches in the world.?I gave one beach in Mykonos a ranking of a 9.5.?It really doesn’t get better than that.?The only thing that would have made it a 10 would be to have FREE drinks delivered to our cushioned seats and sun umbrellas.??
This first photo is the embarkation of our ship in Athens.?I figured that it would be a great starting point. As for photos, yes, of course I took many of them!?If we’re connected on Facebook, I will be showing you (my friends and colleagues) some daily photos of our trip, and you can enjoy our trip and live vicariously through us.? I have some great pictures of all the islands, a couple of sunsets, the beaches and some history of the ruins in Greece and Turkey—as well as some shots of our family and some of the great people from Boston we were traveling with.? If you want to see these, please friend me on Facebook and you will be included.
We definitely ate like kings and queens:?tremendous breakfasts, lunches, and dinners.?Every breakfast was a buffet, every dinner was a sit-down dinner, and several of the lunches were enjoyed on the ship or in the islands.?Now I really miss my daily omelets with whatever ingredients I desired each day.?I have several pictures of some of my favorite meals.?I had a Greek Salad at least once every day with a large block of feta cheese.??The food was absolutely delicious, and the service was impeccable.
We all enjoyed the entertainment on the ship, especially John Robert.?He didn’t miss a show.? From Mamma Mia to Cabaret, to Latin Night to Greek folk music to Circus de Soleil.?It was fun enjoying these shows together.?Then we listened to Darlene, the late-night singer in the lounge.?John Robert and Darlene had a certain chemistry.?They looked so cute together.??John Robert was her biggest fan and he sat in the front row during her singing sets.?When she sang the main song in Footloose, John Robert and his dancing got the whole room dancing.?I, of course, have some photos.
When you take your vacation, be sure to also bring a journal.? I journaled every night.?It was a great way to reflect on the day—what the highlights were and what I was thankful for.?I know that I can always go back to my journal if I want to relive any part of this amazing vacation.

1 年Do you unplug when you go on vacation? I usually don't. However, my whole family did this in July, and I would highly recommend it. Then you will come back refreshed and ready to be back to work. Enjoy!
