Do You Need an Upgrade?

Do You Need an Upgrade?

When I was young, I dated the same person from the age of 17–25. Eight years. One-third of my life up to that point! We did not end up together, which, as it turns out, was the right decision for both of us.

In thinking back, I realize that it was hard for both of us to adjust how we saw each other after we met our senior year of high school. I always saw him the same way, even though he matured, gained confidence, and became more worldly.

I wrote a few weeks back about how hard it is?to get other people to see you differently.?Remember the Law of Self-Image from my book? The 11 Laws of Likability:?

“Before you can expect others to like you, you have to like you first.”

You must be clear on how you see yourself if you expect others to see you that way.

Sometimes we need to do something drastic to shock our system and our network into seeing us differently. When people chop off their hair, dye it a different color, lose weight, grow a beard, update their wardrobe, or change jobs, they are giving themselves a spark of change.

I have been doing it professionally about every 5 years or so. Since starting my business in 2004, I have had multiple versions of my website. My most recent upgrade was in 2018, right before the latest book launch. Well, it feels like the right time again. I needed an upgrade.

I?have a new newsletter banner,?LinkedIn background,?new LI Newsletter graphics,?new website colors, and new icons and logos. It was fun to refresh! Check out my new feel at?Michelle Tillis Lederman?and tell me what you think of?the new look.?The new colors?

My goal was to be me and project the warmth, energy, and bold authenticity you have come to expect with this?change and update.

If you feel stuck, stagnant, unnoticed, or just want to shake things up a bit, give yourself an upgrade. We all need that shock to the system sometimes.

Excellent read Michelle Tillis Lederman, CSP, SCC, Leadership Speaker and just subscribed “Connected Leadership” Life upgrades - habits, looks, services, products are important and the idea behind life upgrades is not just about ways to improve your life…indirectly, you’ll also improve and inspire the lives of those around you. When you lead by example and “show up differently,” you’ll influence the family, friends, and colleagues that see you the most. Not everyone, of course, but enough to make a real difference, and that’s when it gets really fulfilling.

It's good to give your public image a makeover, even if it is but a subtle one, but don't change the fundamentals and principles that make you who you are. We see businesses with sales drops try something different because they don't understand how to be current while staying who you are. Need a classic example? New Coke. (Look it up if you're not old enough to remember.)

“My goal is to be 100% me. Project warmth, positive energy, and bold authenticity!” - Wow, Michelle Tillis Lederman, CSP, SCC, Leadership Speaker, I’m 100% with you on this and enjoyed reading your article!
