Do You Need a Pick Me Up? Try YouTube

YouTube has recently published a new report called 'Culture and Trends', discussing how Gen Z is shaping digital culture. A few of the most important points is that there is a great contrast between content from 10 years ago and content now. Gen Z want personalised content, there is an ambition to be unique and different, which is translated through niche videos and endless subcultures. Hyperpop being a really interesting example of niche viral content. The content then becomes transformative and grows rapidly through the internet.

When we look at the 'old' YouTube, viral content was much more impactful, everyone knew what the trend was, we knew that 'Gangnam Style' was a global hit. However now, we can see that social media is much more prevalent in everyones lives and a new trend tends to appear every week.

Such as:

'He's a 10 but hasn't subscribed to the Saulderson Newsletter' - awful, I know, sorry...

Reactions, everyone has an opinion and the accessibility to showcase that opinion. Want to write an article? - jump on LinkedIn. Looking to react to a video? - try TikTok. There's endless formats for those who want to share their individuality, which we value greatly.

The report also dives into how content satisfies a lot of emotional needs, such as ASMR. For many, it's soothing and relaxing and there are many other genres on the internet that aid in emotional relief. Social Media has become one of the most popular places for people looking for a 'pick me up'.

MEET OUR INFLUENCERS

Within every letter we’ll be looking to provide a bit more insight into the talent we manage ??

Today we want to talk about 'Marley', the Rainbow Six YouTuber. Marley has been creating content for a few years now, blowing up to 3.1m subscribers and recently launching a second channel -'Morley'. The second channel, which we manage exclusively is focused on variety games, where Marley plays with his friends. This strong community has quickly brought the channel to over 200,000 subscribers with an average of 200,000 views per video. Marley has an extremely engaged audience, and a strong community - something we love to focus on at Saulderson.
