Do You Love Selling?

Do You Love Selling?

Not only do you need to believe in yourself, but you also need to believe in selling. Succeeding in this world is going to depend on your mindset.

Because even the world’s best sales strategies, tactics, tools, and scripts won’t help you if you don’t have the right mindset.

Let’s do a quick quiz:

Do you love sales? or

Do you dread sales?

Do you continually practice and sharpen your sales skills? or

Do you let your sales skills get rusty, creaky, and stale?

To sell differently, you must feel differently.

For any sales task, from prospecting to discovery to following up to negotiating fees to closing - or even when you go to schedule sales tasks in your calendar - you might feel:

Anxious. This initial call is going to be a disaster. I always get tongue-tied, and it gets awkward and weird.

Depressed. Oh God, not more prospecting. Can’t I just focus on client work? Paralyzed. Where do I start? I don't even know what a good sales process looks like.

I’m already stuck.

Overwhelmed. This is too much work. I don’t have the time. Fuggedaboutit!

Mystified. I was never good at selling anything. I don’t have the sales gene. How am I supposed to sell myself and my services?

Do you look forward to sales and block time for it daily?

Probably not.

If you’re like most of my clients, you find every possible excuse under the sun not to make time for sales.

Lead generation, prospect research, sales outreach?

You would much rather do a hundred different things, right?

You’d much rather create a new slide deck for your upcoming presentation.

You'd much rather write an article.

You’d much rather shoot a video.

You’d much rather work on your next book. (Sort of like what I’m doing as I write this)

Because you love creative work.

You love the client work.

You love seeing the light bulbs over your clients’ heads when you’re training or coaching or doing a virtual speaking engagement.

Harsh Truth: You can be the world's greatest coach, consultant, speaker, or expert – but if you don't have paying clients, it's not going to work.

No sales = No clients = No money = No bueno.

You're not going to get the income and the joy and the meaning you want from your business UNLESS you master your selling skills in a different way - a way that's organic, a way that you find easy, effortless, enjoyable, and even (dare I say it?) fun!?

So true David Newman, CSP - I’ve always believed that what I do can truly bring value to others. I never look at selling as much as “sharing” what I do as I know it will be helpful to the one im working with ??
