Do You Like What You See in the Mirror?

As a coach, I help leaders refine their Leadership Presence, with a key focus on managing their image. This begins with one essential question: What is your brand?

Brand has multiple facets:

  • Visual Brand: How do I look? Does my image align with the company culture and represent me authentically?
  • Spoken Brand: What language do I use to create impact? Am I consistent in how I express myself across different audiences?
  • Virtual Brand: Does my online presence (LinkedIn, company intranet, etc.) reflect my expertise and values?

To start, I recommend leaders create an inventory of their strengths and values. Reflect on how colleagues perceive you and the feedback you receive. Then ask yourself: Is this the leader I want to be? If not, write a letter to your future self describing the qualities of your ideal leadership brand, and create a plan to get there.

Your brand is always evolving. Seek clarity, stay open to feedback, and pivot as you grow. The ultimate measure of success? Seeing the person in the mirror and knowing you’re on the right path.

Kevin Logeman, MBA, PCC I love the “write a letter to your future self” exercise! I often ask my clients “how do you want others to experience you?” Reputation (how others see us) is more important than our identity (how we see ourselves)!
