What being "fearless" really means

What being "fearless" really means

Do you like crazy rides in theme parks? I don’t. ??

My family and I went to a theme park at the request of my little siblings.

Adventure #1: Snow Slide ??

The temperature inside Snow World was 10-15 degrees colder than freezing. This is a huge challenge considering that we live in a tropical country. ?? But what really scared me was doing the snow slide. ??

I looked at my little siblings and asked if they wanted to do the slide. Their eyes lit up, they smiled wide, and they nodded their heads.

There was a long line of people wanting to do the slide. As we got nearer and nearer, I got more and more scared. I asked my little siblings again if they wanted to push through, and they said, "Yes!!!" ??

Their courage gave me courage. I also looked at the other little kids in line and they seemed so calm. Brave kids.

I pushed thru. I did it!!! ????

Adventure #1, done! ?

Adventure #2: Jungle Splash ??

This ride would descend from a height of about two floors. Here's the catch: There’s no protective harness. You have to hold on for dear life. I asked the operators and they said it's safe. ??

The boat could only accommodate two at a time. My two little siblings rode in one boat so I rode the next boat solo. As the boat was slowly ascending to its peak, I kept telling myself, “You’re safe, Sha. You got this. You’re safe.” ????

Before I knew it, the boat descended at what seemed like 100 kph. I screamed at the top of my lungs, and it was captured in a photo. I’m keeping the unglamorous photo to myself as a remembrance of that moment I faced my fear of heights head-on. ????

Is there something you’re afraid of? ??

As a speaker, author, and leader, I talk a lot about #fearlesspossibilities. ????

“Fearless” doesn’t mean the absence of fear. Fearless means you acknowledge/feel your fears and then face them head-on by taking action. ????♂?

When you do that, you are not letting your fears paralyze you or limit you. Instead, you let your fear unlock possibilities in your life. ????

In my own life, I’ve faced and conquered many fears — speaking in public, sleeping in an unfamiliar room by myself, traveling solo to another country, pursuing my passions in writing and speaking full-time without any Plan B, launching books and passion projects, and so on. ???????

Today, I’ve:

- Written 15 books ??

- Successfully coached 200+ first-time authors and non-writers to write, publish, and launch their books ?????

- Helped entrepreneurs and C-suite leaders overcome their fear of public speaking and become eloquent leaders ????

- Helped various companies and leaders increase their employee engagement, well-being, and productivity ????

- Traveled/given talks in countries like the Philippines, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, India, France, Maldives, UAE, and the U.S. ????

- Addressed hundreds of thousands of people, the biggest audience I addressed at an event was 8,000 people live, in-person ?????

- Performed in, directed, and produced 30+ music videos ????

- Founded online summits such as the HR Summit Global with 10k+ participants from 32 countries, WGS with 15k+ participants from 49 countries, etc. ??

What possibilities do you want to unlock in the coming year by facing your fears head-on? ????

Maybe it’s to:

- Write a book ????

- Record an album ?????

- Launch a passion project ????

- Travel ????

- Enter into a relationship or end a toxic one ????

- Get promoted ????

- Speak in front of people ?????

You got this! ????

Thank you, 2023! ??

Bring it on, 2024! ????
