Do you like being wrong?
What kind of question is that? Who likes being wrong? No one right?
Well you may not like it but I love being wrong! Why?
Because it opens up avenues for learning. Because it creates opportunity for introspection and improvement. Because it forces me to remain humble and admit my ignorance. Because it forces me to act fairly in all situations and look back at impulsive decisions.
What happens in reality is that we don't want to accept we are wrong and we keep messing up. We mess up our relationships, our profession, our jobs... just because we don’t want to accept, we are wrong.
You pick up any case related to family feuds or issues at work, and you will find the heart of the problem lies in people not accepting they are wrong. Not willing to correct the wrong and move on with life. They get stuck and unwilling to change. The friction continues and damages the relationships to the point where trust breaks and all respect is lost.
Embracing you are wrong is the only way forward. No doubt it's not easy and at times even painful. It needs a lot of patience, tolerance and thinking.
But if you want to grow... you have to embrace being wrong. Embrace your failures. For after all life is full of problems and finding solutions is often an iterative process. If you embrace being wrong or the failures which come your way, you will learn faster and become better.
So do you like being wrong?
