Do You Know Your Value?

Do You Know Your Value?

Do you know what you bring to the table? Many people tend to undervalue their gifts, talents, or services. Here are some tips and musings for creatives, entrepreneurs, and job seekers.

Maybe you're comparing yourself to what others are doing but you may not be considering the following:

? Your experience

? How much you've spent to get to this point. This includes training, equipment, etc.

? The actual time you're spending on a project, event, or client call

? The results people are getting from working with you or attending your events

Besides overhead, there is also a personal cost. What has it cost you personally to get to where you are?

Maybe it was long nights and weekends away from your family and friends, maybe it was overcoming years of criticism from naysayers, or maybe you rose up from a major setback and that's why you do what you do. Some things you can't put a price tag on.

Knowing your identity and your assignment

What really trips people up is not knowing who they are and whose they are, as in a child of God. I wrote about this in my book, Rise Up & Rock: Activating Your God-Given Purpose . If you're not a believer, stick with me here.

Having faith can help you overcome obstacles, setbacks, and even anxiety and depression. If you're thinking: “Sure, Dori, that's easy for you to say. You don't know what's like.”

Ummm...actually I do. I've overcome some major issues that almost did me in. I share them in my talks, my books, and my workshops to give others hope and help them understand their value.

Rising up isn't easy but it can be done. You have to fight back and say “Enough's enough!” I rose up and was completely healed when I understood who I was, what God had planned for me and my gifts (my assignment), and that I didn't have to stay stuck or do this alone.

Change your beat, shift your mindset, change your life

When you reframe and honor your gifts and what you bring to the table, it can not only boost your confidence but it can change your life. I see this all the time when I'm working privately with teens and adults. They go from worriers to warriors – and their beat shows it!

In fact, 88% of my private drum therapy clients have experienced a breakthrough in 8 sessions or less. It would be 100% if they all did the homework! Lol!
