If you’re a busy 9-5er who’s lacking energy, burnout, and feeling more anxious and depressed... this is for you.
You’ve probably blamed this on your work stress..
But this knowledge has changed my life and it will change yours. I guarantee.
Maybe you’ve let your diet slip the last few months?
You grab food on the go to save time..
You chug 3-4 coffee’s before lunch to stay awake..
You drink beer in the evenings to destress..
You’re stressed out of your brain due to unrealistic deadlines...
You’ve noticed that you’re your stomach is unsettled and you feel more bloated...
This is caused by your gut health.
Or the millions of bacteria that sit in your stomach to break down food.
Remember the Yakult ad.
But you’re probably asking, why is this related to my low energy, anxiety or low mood?
Well your gut talks to your brain. They call this the gut-brain connection.
Astonishingly, a study?revealed that schizophrenia is associated with an impoverished gut microbiota.
Scientists found that people who eat a diet made up of with ultra processed foods, high in carbs and sugar, alcohol and other stressors.
Are more likely to have low energy, suffer with burnout, anxiety and even depression.
We have never been in a time where ultra processed foods are so readily available.
These foods are causing us inflammation in our gut and intestines.
I like to imagine the gut as a car engine.
If you poured diesel into a petrol engine, or poured low quality petrol in a petrol engine, it wouldn’t be long before your car stops working.
And that’s the same with your gut.

Everything you eat and drink goes through the gut.
As the western diet is only eating a few food types, lacking in vegtables, fruits, nuts, seeds, fermented foods etc.
And have been reapled with huge amounts of irritants like dairy, gluten, caffeine, alcohol, suger, carbs etc.
Never have we been in a time where our guts are suffering every single day.
That’s why food intolerances are on the rise and things like IBS and other gut issues are on the rise.
So what can I do if I have an issue with my gut health?
well one study in Spain, showed that people who were eating a traditional Mediterranean diet were roughly half as likely to be diagnosed with depression over a four-year period.
Interestingly, the?Mediterranean diet has been shown to increase the diversity of gut bacteria , and reduces the other physiological changes such as chronic inflammation that also seems to accompany depression.
So I would start here.
By adding in more fruit and vegetables, nuts and seeds. The best way to start is to start with your breakfast.
Starting your day with a smoothie incorporating a variety uncooked vegetables, fruit, nuts, seeds and protein can really help and you will be surprised how tasty they are once you start experimenting.
From my own personal experience, I had my suspicions that I was intolerant to dairy so I experimented with taking it out of my diet.
In my case it made no difference to my energy levels, clarity, fatigue and bloating etc so I tried the same with gluten.
And bingo!
I felt so much better afterwards. More energetic, less fatigue and lethargy, better concentration and clarity.
Round up!
Our diets are worsening, filled full of ultra processed foods and irritants that our gut is struggling to process. Sticking to foods with less than 5 ingredients on the packet, lots of fresh vegetables and fruits, nuts and seeds.
The more varied you can be week by week the better as it will feed your gut bacteria and keep you healthy.
If you do think you might be sensitive to diary or gluten try taking them out of your diet one at a time and see how you feel afterwards.
It’s made such a difference to my life, I’d recommend it to anyone. And the good news is, after a break from gluten, I can now have small amounts e.g. bread, pastries etc without it flaring up my stomach.
I hope this has helped you. Stay tuned for more information on how to bring back your health and performance at your peak.
