Do you know who you are talking to?

Do you know who you are talking to?

Many of us want more work or to help more clients. But do we really understand who’s right for us? You don’t want to be friends with everyone in your city, right? So why do we try to “sell” to everyone?

The real question is: can what I offer help someone? We’ve all heard the classic sales question: “Can you sell me a pen?” If you know sales (and people), you understand that it doesn’t matter how good you are at selling that pen. If the person you’re talking to doesn’t want the pen in the first place, they’re not going to buy it.

Here are some things to think about when choosing your audience:

  1. Who is the type of person whose pain points you can address?
  2. Where do they hang out online?
  3. What do they care about outside of work?
  4. What values do they have that align with yours?

Taking time to think about these questions can really help you connect with potential clients. Reflect on your current audience and consider doing some research to understand their needs and preferences better.

Let’s figure out how to tailor your approach and effectively reach the right audience. I’d love to hear your thoughts!
