Do you know who you are?
People like people like them.?
Ever scrolled on social media and had an ad that you felt spoke directly to you??
That is the power of branding and an effective brand campaign.?
You are the target of a profile, a target audience that the brand wants you to positively associate with a feeling, a knowing and a behaviour. An out take if you will.?
Branding changes the way we think, feel and do about a company or a product/service. ?
A few months ago, Get Scaled got a total brand makeover. Beyond our logo, we also realigned our marketing campaigns and strategy around our new branding so we can greet the world with our unique look and feel. At a glance, people can recognize who we are.?
The most important thing about branding is that we catch our target market’s attention as soon as we open the door and make them curious about what we do.?
But your branding won’t do much good if you don’t know who you are in the first place. You can “dress up” your brand all you like but if it is not in alignment with who you are as a business, then you enter the market in an awkward manner. ?People can tell if you’re trying to be someone you’re not.
So before you start making decisions on brand direction, you must first establish who you are and what you stand for. Ask yourself these questions:?
Let’s dive deeper into each question.?
What is your purpose and mission? ?
An inexperienced business owner might answer this question with, “Well, to make money, of course!”?
But profitability is a given in any type of business. We all want to make money. That’s an obvious answer.?
If you really want to establish your unique identity, you have to dig deeper than that.?
Beyond profits, why does your business exist? What are you trying to achieve? What problem are you trying to solve??
Here at Get Scaled, we’re all about helping entrepreneurs stand on their own two feet. ?
Everything we do serves this purpose.?
This is why we don’t hold any information or education back. We respect business owners enough to give them everything they need to go off and execute themselves. If you’re embarking on an entrepreneurial journey, we believe you should have all of the information you need to make an informed decision.?
We focus on the problems in your business, not the possibilities. We focus on not only the strategy but the step-by-step roadmap to get there.?
We have created an entrepreneurial village of over 500 business owners where the focus is on the realities and the weakest links so we can all grow together.?
At the same time, we don’t believe that business owners should be reliant on any one individual or company for their own success. That is why we have a panel of trusted experts to guide strategy in every area of business, which must all tie together to achieve a wider business goal.?
We take this responsibility like our clients’ fractional business partners in growth.?
With insolvency at an all-time high in Australia, we’re on a mission to help the Australian business community avoid becoming a statistic.?
What are your values??
Your business’s core values guide every decision you make—from branding to employee management to customer relations. It’s the compass leading the way.?
At Get Scaled, we support Australian entrepreneurs by being unapologetically authentic, delivering pragmatic and practical solutions instead of fluffy, inspirational lingo. We don’t dwell on possibilities—we focus on reality, from where you are now to your goal, and how to get there.??
We also focus on strategies that lead to tangible and sustainable growth for our clients. We listen to their needs and help them build a roadmap to reach their goals, no matter where their starting point may be.?
Putting it more simply, our business’s core values are clarity, resilience, empowerment, authenticity, tenacity, integrity, value, and excellence—in short, CREATIVE.?
Every aspect of our business is driven by these guiding principles.?
Speaking of values, George will talk to you more about the importance of your brand values in the coming weeks, so make sure to stay tuned for that!?
What is your personality??
Different brands speak different languages. Are you speaking your target audience’s language??
The way you present yourself will be influenced by your personality—by the qualities that make you unique—and, at the same time, by your target market.?
In other words, how do you translate your personality so that it appeals to your target market??
For example, both George and I are direct communicators. We don’t beat around the bush or use fluffy words when speaking to our clients or our team. Because we’re both goal-oriented, we like getting straight to the point.?
Being the faces and founders of the brand, we need to get our shared personality across.?
Looking at our logo, you’ll see this reflected in the simplicity and sleekness of the design. There are no frills, no unnecessary visual elements. It’s straight to the point, just like we are.?
So... who are you??
Your brand identity lies in the foundation of your business. Remember, it will influence every aspect of your business, not just your branding.??
So if you want to build a business that can scale, you need to spend some time and really think about what your customers and target market can align with outside of your product or service.?
Putting it simply, do you know who you are??
