Do you know where they hide the knowledge?
Not only is this time of year great to see family and friends and have great food, but it’s also a quieter time to reflect on the last year, and plan for another great year.?Over the holidays I like to take the time sitting around the fire with the family to also read some good books to get a jump start on the next year.
I am currently reading, “Good to Great” by Jim Collins.?While I love building the latest technology, as a Product Manager for Crestron Home, I do like the old-school reading a real book with real paper.?In this case a relatively old for a business book, so the pages are turning yellow a bit.?Although older, at least so far, the wisdom is still relevant. There are many great lessons in this book, this stands out to me right now about focusing first on the people first, “First Who, Then What: Get the right people on the bus, then figure out where to go”.?
I am constantly looking for how to improve the product, process, the team, and that quote is standing out to me right now, since with Crestron Home’s success we are working on growing the team in the coming year with various roles.?One of these available roles is on the Product side to help guide the development of the Crestron Home platform:
By the way, that quote in the beginning was not from a business book, it is from a great chess player, and teacher, TC (TC stands for “Teaches Chess”).? If you want to go learn something related to chess, or gain some other wisdom, go visit TC at Union Square in NYC for some knowledge.
Anyone else have any good recommendations on books where they hide all the knowledge?
