DO YOU KNOW WHAT YOUR PROJECT NEED AS A PROJECT MANAGER?

Every successful project manager should know this.

As a project manager whenever you get to a client ensure you are outstanding. One thing that makes you different from others in the industry is how you address your client's needs. Many people listen to others when they talking for them to respond, PLEASE DON’T DO THIS as a PM, always listen to determine the client's needs that he or she is presenting to you. Remember to differentiate yourself and win the client's respect by hearing and responding to implied needs. ALWAYS LOOK FOR THE NEEDS BEHIND WHAT THE CLIENT SAYS. By having listened to your client, classify the needs presented in these three ways;

1.????? PROJECT NEEDS

This is what the project requires. Be aware of the aspects like;

a.?????? Project Cost Reduction- involves implementing effective cost management practices to identify and eliminate unnecessary expenses, optimize resource allocation, and enhance efficiency throughout the project lifecycle, ultimately achieving the desired project outcomes within budget constraints

b.????? Design needs - entail addressing architectural aesthetics, functional requirements, spatial planning, material selection, sustainability considerations, and adherence to relevant design standards and regulations to ensure the successful realization of the project's vision and objectives.

c.?????? Project efficiency- refers to optimizing the use of resources, time, and processes throughout the project lifecycle to maximize productivity, minimize waste, and achieve project objectives effectively and within established constraints, such as budget and schedule. This need is addressed by the use of BIM in Design management.

d.????? Increased profitability- this is mostly for commercial projects. It can be addressed well during the initial stages of the project by having a proper feasibility study done for development.

e.?????? Shortened development Time – this a need that requires a project to take as short time as possible projects. I can be addressed by applying effective time management platforms in a project.

2.????? CLIENTS NEEDS

This is where most of the project managers fail. Remember that all clients are influenced by their individual needs, which delve much deeper into areas that are hard to quantify- security, ego and comfort. those personal needs include;

a.?????? Minimised Risk- every project involves risks that clients will be very cautious of. This is addressed through the application of risk management platforms

b.????? Boost of personal status- clients want the project for them to have a feeling of accomplishment.

c.?????? Decrease stress- an unattended project is a stress to a client that no one would like to have.

d.????? Gain recognition- clients want to have a sense of self-belonging to their colleagues in their workplace. This can addressed by design management during the design stage where you should know what kind of design the client wants and what those who surround him/ her have.

e.?????? Aesthetic value of the project- the client will need a project that is eye-catching to him/her as well as to others.

3.????? REGULATORY NEEDS

Every successful project manager knows that every project needs to comply with the set of regulations that apply to the project. They include;

a.?????? Environmental regulations- refers to the set of laws, rules, and guidelines aimed at minimizing the environmental impact of construction activities, ensuring compliance with environmental standards, and promoting sustainable practices

b.????? Building codes refers to the legal standards and requirements established by governmental authorities to ensure the safety, health, and welfare of the occupants and the public by regulating the design, construction, and occupancy of buildings

c.?????? Local government policy- Local government regulations in construction projects encompass the specific ordinances, policies, and procedures set by municipal authorities to govern various aspects of development, zoning, permitting, and land use within their jurisdiction.

d.????? Relevant professional bodies involved.
