Everything you need to know about skills management?

What is skills management, and why is it important??

Any business needs top talent to succeed, and these employees need to be highly skilled and qualified. Alternatively, your business may hire trainable employees with excellent potential.?

Whether you choose those who are already qualified or those who need training, you need to track their abilities and understand your business’s (and employees’) strengths and weaknesses. That’s where skills management helps.?

Skills management involves mapping out your employee’s experience, including their qualifications, skills and expertise. Each employee should have a profile highlighting their abilities and competencies, which will help managers assign tasks and boost operational processes.?

Why is skills management important??

As mentioned, skills management allows managers to correctly assign tasks to employees in a way that is most beneficial to the business, but skills management also has other benefits, including:?

  • The chance to identify #skillgaps within your team and then upskill your current employees or hire someone with the right qualifications.?
  • Employee satisfaction is boosted because they can focus on what they enjoy doing and complete any missing qualifications to boost their professional #development.?
  • The opportunity to empower employees and encourage them to take an active role in their professional and personal development (which increases employee happiness and confidence).?
  • A clear understanding of your business’s capabilities in terms of qualifications and who is allowed to do what. For example, which employees are licensed to operate which machines.?
