Do you know Paulownia wood?
I spend daily time to read about new innovative material for a yachting use and how to replace traditional ones with never used before on board.
Thanks to Mr. Vaughn K. Buntain directly arrived from Germany met last friday I have discovered a new kind of wood.
What is curious about it :
- is a plantation grown that doesn't impact natural rain forest systems.
- is one of the fastest growing trees, 8/12 years for the complete growing.
- is really light kg. 267 against red oak and teak 700/655 kgs/m3
- is naturally fire resistant, it ignites in the presence of heat near 420 degrees C. against the other woods between 190/ 250 degrees C.
- is highly mold, fungus decay and insect resistant.
- Is stable and can be used as core material thanks to reduced resin uptake.
this wood has been mostly used in China and Japan for creating musical instruments.
We are working to test in our superyacht building process so stay tuned and follow us.
