Do You Know How To Answer These Interview Questions?

The interviewing process can be absolutely nerve-racking, but it doesn't have to be. To make your next interview a little less frightening, we've compiled answers to 5 of the most common interview questions. So do you know how to answer these Interview Questions?

How'd You Hear About Us?

This question is usually asked promptly at the beginning of the interview. Simple straightforward answers work best for this question. For Example:

"I heard about the company on linked in and knew I would be a great fit"

or

"I've followed this company for years and jumped at the opportunity to work here"

Describe The Skills You Have That Qualify You For This Job

A lot of times interviewees find it hard to articulate their skills. Confidence is key while answering this question. The employers saw something in your resume that they like. So now it's time to show them you're the right choice! Ensure you only bring up skills that are on your resume. For example:

"For the past seven years, I've worked in environments similar to this position and thrived! I also possess specialized training in critical areas of the job"

or

"My skill set is geared towards team building, productivity and fostering company culture, which through my research I found are all important to this organization. This is reflected in references provided by previous employers on my resume"

How Do You Stay Current With Industry Trends?

No matter what industry you're in you need to be abreast of what's going on. Whether it be blogs, youtube channels, or a newsletter you have to be in the know. For example:

"To stay up to date with Information Technology I subscribe to Master I.T.'s weekly newsletter"

or

"I read articles, go to conferences and meet with like-minded professional to ensure I know the latest and greatest."

What Does Your Day-To-Day Look Like?

With these questions, interviewers are trying to find out what's your current positions workload. With that information, they can try to ascertain if you would be a good fit for the position. This one can be a little tricky. You don't want to understate or overstate your current workload. You may want to ask the interviewer what an average day looks like in their organization then answer based on their answer.  For example:

"Based on the daily routine you explained my current position almost mirrors it"

or

"My day is filled with similar obstacles/opportunities as the ones presented here"

If hired, is there anything you would change about the current team?

Your most likely answer to this should be "NO". Heres why, if you haven't met the team you don't want to assume there are any flaws. Also if you have met the team you don't want to point out shortcomings of the individuals you'll be working side by side with. An even keel response would be best suited here. For example:  

"Since I have yet to work with the team I wouldn't make any immediate changes"

or

"Until I work with the team I'm unable to intelligently say whether or not improvements are needed."

BONUS QUESTION: WHAT'S YOUR BIGGEST WEAKNESS?

This is probably one of the most difficult questions to answer. You don't want to be generic. "I'm a perfectionist" "I work too hard" blah blah blah. Whenever I was asked this question I would smile and say "My biggest weakness is answering the question whats my biggest weakness". The interviewer would laugh and we would move on. But not sure that would work for everyone. So with this one, I need a little help from you guys. Drop in the comments what you've said in past interviews to this question. This will help others not to get tripped up during their next interview
