Do you how many types of cloth backing in coated abrasives?

During these days, many new customers asked about the cloth backing material, so I made some conclusions based on my own experience in YIHONG ABRASIVES, to share and learn each other.

Cloth – Cloth backings come in various weights, from Stiffest to the most Flexible – (Y, X, J)

“Y” Weight – This extremely heavy duty cloth is used for tough applications. It is usually made of Polyester for added strength & tear resistance. Most for making sanding belt.

“X” Weight – This heavy cloth, also called drills, is recommended for all ordinary machine sanding operations. Flap disc cloth most are X-weight.

“J” Weight – This flexible, lightweight cloth, also called jeans, is used where more flexibility is needed, such as with contour sanding. Most are for hand using.
