Do You Hold the Keys to Your Web Kingdom?

Do You Hold the Keys to Your Web Kingdom?

Have you ever received in invoice that looked similar to this. Perhaps it gave you a moment of panic thinking that your website is about to expire. No one wants that to happen.

First things first:

  1. Do you know what company you purchased your web domain through? If you said "yes," do you know the login and password to that site to verify the information about your domain?

The invoice pictured above is fraudulent. Domain renewals are usually not that expensive. This company sent this invoice in hopes that someone in your office would simply pay the invoice.

  1. Do you know when it is due to expire?
  2. Do you know who hosts your website? Do you have the login and password to the hosting provider?
  3. In regards to social media, do you know who is administrator for your pages? Do you have more than one administrator in case someone gets hit by a bus or becomes an unfortunate disgruntled associate?

Small business owners, I urge you to find out this information. If you have invested thousands of dollars on your web presence, be web smart and protect your investments. If you have any questions about websites or digital marketing, feel free to message me.
