Growing up, most of us were told never to boast. It’s not easy to be stuck next to the person that continually brags about their accomplishments, either professionally or personally. However, when it comes to continuous improvement, we want employees to share and celebrate every accomplishment. By sharing wins, we are reinforcing the actions we want to see from our teams.?Reinforcement is probably the most important step in ensuring a successful change. As the saying goes, success breeds success.
Boasting about our personal gains and achievements is very different than celebrating our wins as a team or organization. When we celebrate our wins as a group we are reinforcing that we did the right thing when we set the goal and achieved it. Perhaps we are reinforcing the fact that we are getting stronger and healthier as a company by working together as a team. Everyone likes to be reminded that that they are going in the right direction. Just as we need to make corrections when we get off track, we need to acknowledge that our hard work paid off.?
Let’s use our celebrations to be a motivating factor for others areas in our organization. Let’s share the news that our company is moving closer to our true North. Sharing this news can motivate other areas to take chances to?improve.?If you build a strong culture of appreciation and value you will increase engagement, productivity, and a sense of positivity during the challenging times.?We are faced with so much uncertainty that we owe it to our teams to let them focus on the good when they achieve a win. After all, they deserve it!?
