Do you have SELF-CONFIDENCE?

Do you have SELF-CONFIDENCE?

Self-confidence is a well know topic yet many people are unable to have confidence in their daily lives. This can affect you in multiple ways such as not having the confidence to take on a new opportunity whether that is in your work, relationships, or personal development. This can have large implications and is how people begin to feel like they are in a rut and not going anywhere.

There are two types of self-confidence that are usually portrayed by an individual, the first is what I’d call hollow self-confidence. Hollow self-confidence means that the person is unnecessarily confident because they have nothing backing them. This is usually brought about by a big ego and the confidence will crumble when times get tough and they realise they cannot back it up.

The other is grounded self-confidence, this is brought about by experiences in which a person learns to be confident in their abilities and themselves as a person.

This must initially be forged through trying and sometimes taking risks to do things that you might lack confidence or be afraid to do. Once you are able to push through and complete those goals you will build up self-confidence in your abilities. Through training and hard work, he’s come to believe in himself. He learns that “I can,” and eventually “I can,” becomes his routine. This is the true heart of self-confidence.

Self-confidence is a great asset, it will enable you to take more opportunities that arise because you will have faith in yourself to achieve them. It will also enable you in the tough times to be able to motivate yourself, you’ll be saying things like “I can do this” “Or keep going you’ve got this.” Self-confidence leads to positive self-talk.

So, what kind of person do you want to be… Do you want to show bravado and have nothing to back it up? Or do you want to go out there and have a crack at all the opportunities in front of you and build up that confidence bank.

It's not going to happen overnight, but with persistence and the want, your self-confidence will grow!

Great article, I like the part where you talk about hollow confidence is feeling confident, ego until things get tough and then the person runs. I used to be that way and now I’m not too afraid to make mistakes or look stupid
