Do you have a morning routine? If you don’t, then you probably should. Here are a few benefits of having a well-planned morning routine.
- Sets the pace for the day - Starting your day off in the right way is going to set the tone, pace, and energy for the rest of the day. If you stay in bed too long, you’re likely to feel rushed for the rest of the day. A morning routine doesn’t necessarily mean you are waking up with the sun, but it does mean waking up with purpose and intention to have things go your way.
- Productivity - Studies have shown that people with morning routines are more likely to be more driven, productive, and cooperative. Having a successful morning routine can ensure you accomplish everything you need to with time for yourself at the end of the day.
- Allows you to enjoy your evenings - A morning routine can help you tick off each item on your daily task list, allowing you to enjoy your evening. Being a workaholic is admirable (sometimes), but well-planned rest time is a necessity to not getting burned out.
So what should you do for your morning routine? That depends on what helps get you going and focused but here are a few suggestions:
- Meditation - Meditation can provide a variety of health benefits, but it’s especially popular for alleviating anxiety and focusing the mind in the present moment.
- Make a goal and checklist - How will you ever get where you want to be if you don’t know where you’re going? Reviewing your goals, no matter how big or small, each morning (and before bed) can have a dramatically positive impact on your motivation to achieve them.
- Exercise - People who work out in the morning have shown to stick to their exercise plans better than people who plan to exercise after work. Other benefits of exercising in the morning are better cardiovascular health, increased focus, better weight loss, reduced cravings, and more energy.
