Do You Have An Intent to Do Right?

Do You Have An Intent to Do Right?

My last IMAGINE of 2022….?

My last challenging question with what I hope will be a shared commitment to changing the world.?

What drives our behavior? What makes a process (or even a procedure—a process taken to an extreme) work? Sometimes it seems all our processes are simply barriers to human progress, or worse, highways to disaster and bad behavior. And, why does the simplest desire to share become complicated and even nasty?

Why indeed? It seems to me that we spend way too much time worrying about the rules and not enough time thinking about what’s right.?

Don’t get me wrong–rules are important–but rules are best as a framework. Rules, as a way of life, restrict thinking, limit free choice, curb creativity, and hinder advancement and the unfettered development of People First solutions.

Some of my loyal readers might be shaking their heads, wondering if I’ve gone to the other side. Those who follow know that I believe in regulating media channels, financial institutions, and social platforms—not to mention Wall Street.?

And I still do…as a framework. You see, if there is no thinking about what’s right, the rules get perverted. They will be twisted and targeted toward the wrong ends. If you don’t believe me, just look at the history of Totalitarian governments or read 1984 or Animal Farm. (I’m a big George Orwell fan. Don’t watch the movies. Actually, read the books.)?

Augh!!! You may ask, “But, how do I know what’s right? Who is judging? What is the measurement? How do I know I’m making the right choices? How can I keep from worrying about making the wrong ones? How do I know that following the rules wouldn’t be a better choice and just take the chance that I won’t fall into the stagnation/negative trap?!”

Truth? I don’t have a clue.?

But I do know that there is nothing more powerful than INTENT. The most potent connector of people is the sheer desire to connect. It’s the need to be a part of a team and the aspiration to create bigger and better—together. It’s the craving for company other than your own, to listen to a voice different than your own, and experience a point of view different than your own. But it’s the right INTENT that connects it all and makes it all work. The intent is what creates a greater whole for everyone.?

Given all of that, I will take the risk every time as long as I see and feel the INTENT of all the players.

This Chinese proverb expresses my point:?

Laws control the lesser person. Right conduct controls the greater one.” —Chinese Proverb

And so it goes…. We need to be greater. We need to do right. We need to have INTENT—making the right laws with the processes and procedures that fall into place as the guides they should be and not the collars or bad detours/re-routes they often become.

Yours in INTENT for 2023.?

Will you take the pledge? The INTENT to do right will change all.

What are your thoughts? Comment below.?

Great share and message David Sable. Its all first an idea, a thought, then transforming into intentions, into actions providing for impactful outcome. #Blessings!

This from a parallel universe, David. A spontaneous reaction to realizing a driver was driving down the steep and curvy Eagle Ridge Drive... in the left lane. 'Must be from Europe' I thought, as we had just exited #1 (a four - six lane divided highway), rounded a right-turning circle to the left... (As he pulled away from a stop sign, he seemed dangerously in the middle of what was now two lanes. Following, it was obvious he thought he should be on the left!) With not much more thought about my own safety, I accelerated up to his right, honked politely, as any Canadian might, frantically made hand signals, then decelerated, and again made hand signals he eventually saw... then he turned into the right (correct) lane and three seconds later a car came up the hill. Saved at least two cars and quite possibly lives. (Actually maybe three cars for that few seconds of 'bravery?') As soon as I read your INTENT note, I felt this instinctive reaction typified taking ACTION, not just thinking about it. There were/are probably RULES against (even 'common sense') about what I did. Don't care, I just did it. I intend to do more of the same... INTENT and ACTION. (I regret that I never saw a 'Thank you!' wave... hope I just missed it.)

rules are guidelines.... there is man"s rules. there are God's rules which is more important... having said that... if you live in the realm of right and wrong and a God conscious life then the intent should automatically steer in the direction of intent which then makes u want to do the right thing... we have all broken rules at some time in our lives.. but the more conscious we become of the higher power of the Almighty then I find that intent is all that matters because you want to please Him.. not because of fear but because of love that you have for Him only to please Him... and therefore you will think twice before doing, or saying a wrong.. yes its all about intent... it gives you more a purposeful drive life....
