Do you have to be a fundraiser to attend the Nonprofit Social Media Summit?
Julia Campbell
Keynote speaker focused on nonprofits. Host, Nonprofit Nation podcast and Nonprofit Social Media Summit. I teach storytelling, digital fundraising & social media. Ruckus maker. #NonprofitNerd
I've heard from a few people that they aren't sure if the Nonprofit Social Media Summit is right for them because they don't do traditional fundraising.
When I designed the Summit and invited the speakers, I was conscious that nonprofits have very different reasons for using social media .
Social media and digital technologies have the potential to spread messages, engage communities, and build movements - all of which are integral to sustaining a successful nonprofit, whether you are trying to raise awareness, market your programs, or raise money from individuals (or all three!)
I want to give you a more detailed breakdown of the topics that we are covering at the Summit:
I'm covering how to future-proof your nonprofit in the digital age - what do you need to know, what can you ignore, what do you need to not just survive, but thrive in the digital age.
I'm also going to walk you through a step-by-step method to creating a social media plan for any campaign you have coming up - marketing, fundraising, awareness, or otherwise.
Chris Strub will tackle how to create DIY video on a shoestring budget, demonstrating the equipment that he uses, and giving us tips for telling your nonprofit story using live streaming video.
Angela Pitter will show you how to use LinkedIn to level up your nonprofit and connect with more of the right people.
Josh Hirsche is going to give you the essential tools and apps you need to make your social media work easier and more effective.
Susu Wong is going to show us how, why, and when to use Facebook Ads strategically - what to boost, if you should boost, how to start an ad campaign, how to create a custom audience, etc.
Sue Citro will talk about mobilizing a group of people to fundraise for you, and why you need others to help spread your message (think social media ambassadors for your nonprofit).
And then John Haydon will bring it all together with a dynamic session on using social media to truly build an engaged audience of people who love you and want to spread the word about your mission.
What else do I get?
When you register, you will get an invitation to the private, registrant-only Facebook Group. That's where you can dive in and share your experience and struggles with social media at your nonprofit with the speakers and fellow attendees.
Summit attendees will get a workbook with handouts, checklists, and resources picked by the speakers.
You will also get access to a Google Drive folder with even more resources and goodies, including all of the slides and a shared doc, Our Favorite Tools for Nonprofit Social Media Managers.
Where Do I Stay?
The Babson Executive Conference Center is located 45 minutes west of Boston. There is one hotel on-site, and two within a 10 minute drive of the conference center.
We have arranged a special rate of $195/night at the Babson Executive Conference Center Hotel. To reserve a room here please call (781) 239-5816 and reference the 'Digital Marketing Tech Workshop.' This rate includes a continental breakfast each morning.
What Are We Eating?
The Babson Executive Conference Center offers continuous beverage service, including coffee, and snacks (including candy - and healthy options) during the Summit.
Lunch will be provided as a buffet, catering to all appetites as well as those with allergies.
Small Group Lunch Sessions
During lunch, a speaker will be seated at each table with a designated topic to discuss with you and fellow attendees. Come prepared to share and enjoy conversation.
Join Us for Dinner and a Movie!
On the evening of August 28, Summit registrants are invited to join us at The Chateau for dinner with our speakers, and a screening of '50 States 100 Days: The Film' by speaker Chris Strub. 'The Film' is based on a 50-state, 100-day road trip where Chris circumnavigated the country, working with a different youth-related nonprofit organization in each state. Along the way, he became the first person to use live-streaming in all 50 states.
Doesn't that all sound awesome???
