Do you have Energy Leaks?

Do you have Energy Leaks?

If you find yourself feeling tired and depleted much of the time, even though you seem to be getting enough rest, eating right, and exercising, you may have energy leaks.

Do you feel stuck in a project that seems to be going nowhere? Has your business stalled with few sales or prospects? Are job opportunities nowhere to be found?

I believe it’s because you have energy leaks—those small things in your life that create a sense of unfinished business.

Here are some energy leaks you might recognize:

  • Unfinished books: You know, the ones sitting on your nightstand, gathering dust, with the intent of “one day, I’ll have the time to finish that book.” Yet you don’t, and you begin another book. This also applies to Google Reads, Audible, and other book apps that collect dust as you never open them. Magazines and newspapers, digital or hardcover, also fall into this category.
  • Your to-do list: You’re constantly adding items to a list that you may never get to. The "one-day" syndrome. One day, I’m going to clean out my closet or that kitchen junk drawer, give things away, declutter my life! These tasks linger in the back of your brain, taking up space and making you feel like there’s something you need to do, that you are missing out.
  • Your promises: The ones you made to others that have suddenly fallen by the wayside, or the ones to yourself that you decided are not important enough to follow through on.

These energy leaks create tiredness, depletion, lack of faith in what you’re doing, procrastination, and fear.

Beyond all that, what is this really doing to you?

It’s causing you to settle and not open yourself up to new experiences and opportunities. You are blocking any new opportunities from coming in—whether it's a new relationship, more intimacy with your current partner, a new position in your company, or new clients.

What Can You Do?

  1. Become Aware Without Criticism: Make a list of all the things you have not started or completed, things you promised to do for others, or yourself.
  2. Decide: As Marie Kondo says, does it feed your soul? If yes, make time to do that—to feed your soul every day. If it doesn’t, give yourself permission to let it go.
  3. Reframe Your Tasks: Don’t look at them as chores but as activities that energize you.

Let me share a personal story.

Recently, I promised my coach I'd write a testimonial about my positive experience in her program. A month passed, and I hadn't done it, which left me feeling stuck and incomplete. Today, I finally sent it, and instantly felt lighter and more energized.

Energy leaks, no matter how small, tend to group together into one big energetic monster, potentially leading to illness.

Keeping your energy tank full is crucial, not just through self-care but by addressing these leaks head-on.

In my work as an executive life coach, I help you keep your tank full and your energy leaks plugged so you can get a new job, attract new clients, and bring joy back into your life.

Bottom Line

If you’re a professional woman who has climbed the corporate ladder but still feels unfulfilled and empty inside, yearning for something more, this is my jam and expertise.

PS: Speaking of tanks, if you constantly run close to empty when you drive, you're probably doing the same in your life—running on empty and not taking time to fill your own tank.

Make sure to literally keep your gas tank full as a reminder to keep your personal energy tank full too.

This is very interesting. We could be unconsciously creating energy leaks without knowing what causes us to feel so tired and drained. It is important to identify the cause and resolve it!

Denise I love this! I will say keeping the tank full can be it's own challenge. But as they say, you cannot eat an elephant in one bite. Having gushers of energy leaks is all about starting with putting some putty in one hole and then going to another! Thanks for sharing.
