Do you have any perfectionist tendencies?

Do you have any perfectionist tendencies?

Do you know how to identify whether or not you have any perfectionist tendencies:

·       It’s the end of the world if you get something wrong

·       You experience real difficulty in being happy for others who are successful

·       You constantly compare yourself to others and usually unfavourably so

·       You can spend up to an hour (sometimes more!) writing and rewriting a two-sentence email

·       You often avoid taking part in new experiences with friends or family for fear of being shown up as less than perfect

·       You avoid doing some tasks because you can’t guarantee doing them perfectly

·       You tend to focus on the end result rather than the process of learning and growing

If any of these sound familiar, then you could be getting in your own way which means you could be getting so much more out of life than you currently are.

I know what it’s like to miss out because of procrastination directly stemming from my need to get things “right” and it feels crap!

I know now that it’s better to take imperfect action and to be imperfectly perfect than it was to stay paralysed by the need to succeed and be the best all the time. At the end of the day, to a perfectionist, nothing is EVER perfect and realising this allows me to step up and be counted in a much more meaningful way than I ever did before.

So, here’s the thing: if you suspect you have a perfection-problem and it’s holding you back, you can do something about it. Maybe this could be the thing you plan to change for next week?

Make that decision, commit to the intention to let go and be imperfectly perfect and to enjoying the journey and you may just be surprised what will happen!
