Do you have a 10X or a 2X Mindset?

I was inspired and energized by Dan Sullivan’s book 10X is Easier Than 2X. The margins of the book are full of stars, exclamation points, and notes, and I wrote a long essay on the inside cover that I will spare you. ?? ?At the time, I thought I had a ‘billion-dollar baby’ and this book helped me see the pathway forward.
The thesis of the book is that aiming for exponential growth is less work than striving for incremental growth. To scale your business incrementally means doing things you are already doing, just more of them. To grow 10X means you must innovate and do things unlike others in your industry. You must find the golden key that unlocks an industry revolution.
It all starts with mindset. You have to adopt a 10X mindset that involves setting ambitious goals and focusing on the 20% of your work that generates 80% of your best results. When you discover what you are doing 20% of the time that is making the most difference, you do it 80% of the time. You sell or delegate tasks that are distractions and focus on what matters most.
Looking back, the truth is that doubling your company's size is a significant achievement. Growing 2X is still exponential, just not game changing. It still requires a solid business foundation including:
1. Bold and Clear Vision and Mission
2. Customer-Centric Approach
3. Aligned Agile Teams
4. Innovative Product Development
5. Meaningful Strategic Partnerships
6. Scalable Business Model
7. Exceptional Talent and Culture
8. Strategic Marketing
9. Smart Financial Management
10. Solid Sales Strategy and Energy
11. Bold and Clear Vision and Mission
Nothing to sneeze at, right? In fact, growing 10X means you will certainly face the following challenges: Scaling, Market Saturation, Cultural Changes, and Increased Risk.
The important thing is to know your mindset and get your team to rally around it. If you grow your company 2X or 5X, I will be celebrating you. If you want to grow 10X, take some lessons and inspiration from these companies that have done so: ?
