Do you have 10 minutes? The answer is yes, yes you do.

I've had that creeping sense of overwhelm slowly dawn on me recently. Not in any big, pulling my hair out kind of way, but more that slightly breathless, slightly unfocused energy that accompanies spinning too fast for too long.

I used to do that a lot as a kid; spin around too fast for too long. Literally. We lived in this 1920's property, pebbledash and all, and I don't think the carpets had been replaced in decades, if at all. It was the late 80's and we still had these bright carpets with hugely ornate floral pattern that were sewn together in wide strips that were fraying at the edges, so I used to spin and spin until the florals became circles of colour around me, and until I collapsed on the floor exhausted.

There's a point in the spin where it feels amazing, where you feel giddy and excited and invigorated and it always comes about 3.4 seconds before you start feeling queasy.

That's when gravity plays a trick with your inner ear and you suddenly want to redecorate the floral carpet, or in the work context, when you're about ready to run to the loos and cry rather than refresh your inbox one more time.

I don't think that I'm the only one who has had a bumpy start to 2020, where the narrative has read something like 'this is brilliant, no really it is, sorry who just whipped the ground out from beneath me, but wait, I've bounced and I'm FLYING again, no wait, I'm falling...'

This constant good-bad-good-bad buffet from which we have been snacking has been lovely and all, but I'm ready to wrangle back a little more control, turn down the volume on other people's life rollercoasters to truly focus on what I want to achieve.

So I've been doing what I do best; breaking it down into 10 minute action steps.

You see, absoutely everyone has ten minutes a day that they can spend, as a minimum, on something they truly want to achieve.

Want a tidier house? A ten minute bin bag fling or 10 minutes spent putting on a load of washing and emptying the dishwasher makes a big difference over time.

Want to read more? Make time to read 10 minutes a day and you'll have automatically read an additional 12 books in a year (not bad when 66% of the UK reported reading 10 or less books in the previous 12 months).

I've been using ten minute windows and reminders to; sort out my office from current tension inducing mess to getting ready for a remodel; working on backdates jewellery orders and creating new products to sell through RogueJewels; updating contracts, responding to emails and client enquiries and catching up on correspondence; drafting this email to you. Ok, so I hit the snooze button a couple of times and went down a rabbit hole trying to figure out if my childhood home really was a 1920s property, but here we are.

Everyone can commit to a single 10 minutes a day.

If you can't, well then you can't want to make that change.

Sorry, not sorry.

10 minutes is where Searching for Serenity started.

I challenged myself to create a 7 day solution to help people manage their to do lists, their workloads and snuck in a whole lot about what we think about the way we work, and to do it all in 10 minutes or less a day.

It's literally the no excuses, no BS place to start if you know that you are struggling, overwhelmed, overworked and don't know where to start.

I'm bringing it back and we start the ball rolling tomorrow evening so, are you going to join us?

When you join us in Your Best Week 2020 and start THIS week, you not only get access to an entire year of support - but you also get 1:1 support from me.

Yep, I'm giving away laser mentoring sessions for EVERYONE that joins in this round, to make sure that you stick the landing, instead of sick up on the carpet.

Sound like a plan?

I am a big fan of 10 minutes to do things. It is amazing what you can do and really useful for mundane tasks like cleaning!
