Do YOU Follow Through?

It's all good and well to set goals, to take immediate action on decisions and to execute instantly in order to get the ball rolling, but what about follow through? Do YOU follow through? Do you remember to drive projects, no matter how small and insignificant they may appear to be?
I have found that the only effective way for ME to focus successfully and keep tabs on all action taken and future tasks required is my hard copy diary. (I have an online diary as well but I do not trust tech enough to rely solely on online reminders).
1. Make notes of tasks aand and their current status quo
2. Use dates to jot down reminders of the next step and it's intended completion date.
3. Tick off achievements and make notes of what actions you still need to take toward completion of task.
The handy thing about a hard copy diary is that it's practical, easily accessible at all times, on hand instantly and easy to manage.
I soon realised that without one, plenty of stuff that needed doing was simply not paid sufficient attention.
Getting into the habit of jotting down reminders and notes of what needs doing, when and how, simply makes life so much easier, while at the same time allowing for timeous, effective execution.
I'm a 'tick off task' kind of person.......the more ticks at the end of the day, the better! Oftentimes when we need to delve into detail on an issue or assignment, those dastardly little tasks all add up to the ultimate success of our desired outcome. And yes, often the 'devil is in the details'. Focus needs to be placed in particular areas at the right moment.....keeping track of where you are in a diary can serve to create a far more efficient process in the long run!
Paying attention to timeous and effective follow through allows others to witness your focus and attention to detail where required....an essential trait for any effective leader, and is a necessary and vital tool for any manager worth his/her weight.
The complete and effective follow through is where the magic happens. Any entrepreneur knows that more times than not, we are slowed down by tasks that can take a lot longer than expected to finalise. As a result, the details necessary to drive the project or task can often get lost in the 'busyness' of our days and eventually may get lost in the myriad other tasks needed to be completed. This is where my diary becomes absolutely indispensable........it serves as an efficient secretary to remind me of where so much imperative detail and necessary follow through are the only thing standing between me and certain success of the tasks at hand.
