Do You Find it Hard to Calm Your Nerves Before a Performance?
It’s easy to admire those who are able to stand in front of an audience and give a peak performance without showing their nerves…whether it be an actor, a singer, speaker or someone giving a presentation.
You too, can reach this level of calm when you’re about to speak, sing, act or give a presentation. Even if you only have a few minutes to spare.
Here’s how…
- Find a quiet place where you will not be disturbed.
- Close your eyes
- Start to take deep breaths in through your nose. Concentrate on your breathing. Listen to you breath. Think about how the breath is being distributed to every part of your body.
- Now focus on a coloured shape. Don’t choose colour which is bold or aggressive, but soft and relaxing, I like to visualise blue. No reds!
- See the object clearly. As thoughts start to enter your consciousness, quickly discard them and stay focused on your object.
- Your breathing will slow down and you will feel calm. This is the objective. Remain this way for several minutes.
- Then, open your eyes, and feel your relaxed state.
Try to stay in this state of calm as you go about your daily activities and of course use this technique before you are about to give a speech, presentation or performance.
It’s quick and effective method to keep you focused.
