Do you feel uncomfortable?
Making bankers, suites and neurotypicals sit through a beautiful autistic asian woman talk on dance, poetry, expression, sounds, music, storytelling and song as the opening session on the “future of banking” is about as uncomfortable as it can get for many.? As many opted to look at their phones to avoid sensory expression, did they realise they are missing the point about this is where many neuro-minorities are as they mask and hide.? Dr Dawn-Joy Leong (www.dawnjoyleong.com) delivered her own story, hidden in plain sight, about uncovering and discovering her own path, pattern and flow.??
The question I would love to ask is “ did you grasp that this is how members of your team feel, how exhausting it is to mask and hide, how difficult it is for me to conform, how differently we think and see the world”?
Of note is that from Innotribe opening to the plenary opening was also full of dance and lights but then on to traditional speeches. Many celebrated the experience of dance and music as it was entertaining, but the contrast to the Innotribe opening is how it felt uncomfortable when dance is used as the medium and message.???
To link these two stories and messages further,? on the main screen and audio voice overs were “can we celebrate difference, do we have one collective ambition, can we lead innovation in the future”? Do those who wrote these message think about collective ambition as neuro-typical and neuro-minority contributing to a better world and solving complex issues or just different big banks working together!??

When set in the context of neurodiversity do you recognise and celebrate differences in thinking, gender, race, politics, economic models, views on sustainability or do we want people like us. Innotribe demands we ask better questions - how about these.? Do we have a collective ambition or do you have an ambition that you want others to follow,? do you and how do you compromise? Do you know how to recognise tensions created by masking.?
To lead others need to follow - is that a true leadership idea?? We can lead but not because we are first, biggest, strongest, brightest or the fastest - but because no-one is left behind and everyone is equally valued.?
Onto financial inclusion ….?

4 个月After a lifetime of the ol' "masking" I don't do it anymore. I am what I am as Gloria Gaynor once said...If people find that uncomfortable, then they need to broaden their horizons. The world is a sparking mesh of ideas and we just need to open our eyes to see them shine.
