DO YOU FEEL SAFE AS A LONE-WORKER?
Apparently, it is estimated that 46% of full-time employees in UK regard themselves as lone-workers, for at least a portion of their role. A lone-worker is defined as an employee who completes an activity in isolation without direct supervision. It is known that a lone-worker faces a range of risks, which includes the risk of violence, threats or abuse. Such perils can make people feel fearful, especially estate agents, who have to meet members of the public alone in empty houses. Women, in particular, can feel unsafe in these situations.
Thankfully, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) does provide guidance for employers, who have specific duties to protect their lone-workers. Instruction from the HSE includes the provision of training and support from employers to their lone-workers to assist in their remaining safe. With this in mind, Staff Defence would like to invite you to join our Personal Safety Foundation Level training course, which empowers each attendee to deal with threatening situations at work, as a lone-worker.
