Do you fear failure or drive for success?
When looking at decisions in your business life and career there usually ends up being 2 types of people.
People who are worried about failure and people who drive for success.
It may seem like an oversimplification but digging into your mind you will likely find you fit into one of those category’s (most people I ask do)
When assessing situations in your business, or personal life, and deciding on the next course of action what is your first thought?
Is it one of worry about what might go wrong?
Worry about the negative results that could follow?
The anxiety of failing again?
These kinds of feelings are ultimately completely natural and so many of us can feel like that but are all led by FEAR.
Now, when William Shakespeare coined a very similar phrase over 400 years ago his mindset was unlikely to refer to business leaders and people with Entrepreneurial tendencies.
Old Bill was clearly referring to “hero’s and cowards” but I think this is even more relevant in today’s society where such pressure is put on people to be successful.
Social Media Influences
Social media encourages people to only talk about their success and this leads to a false persona that successful people don’t fail. The reason successful people are successful is due to these failures and the decision making that came with it.
Everybody fails, it is worrying about failure rather than smart, forward-thinking and planning that turns into long term mediocrity.
Most “failures”, especially in business lead to something else. A "successful failure" is possible with an organised understanding of what worked and what didn’t. It is impossible to live without failing at something so there is no point looking for and fearing failure.
Self Development
If you look in the mirror and see the worrisome person and feel the fear expectation then all is not lost. Just because you currently struggle with a positive outlook does not mean that it needs to stay that way. Your future is in your own hands and accepting this and looking to self improve is the only way to change your own fortune.
The true leaders do not imagine themselves failing but focus on the work ahead of them.
That being said, the true leaders plan well and embrace the challenges and lessons that inevitable failure will bring.

5 年Are you saying that there is no need to fear failure? Stop hyping failure.? ?Ordinary people are hurt by it.? ? Have you ever fired someone for failing?? Then you don't believe what you are saying.?

5 年I couldn’t agree more! I just posted a video about this. The #1 reason why most don’t have the life they envisioned is because of fear! Truth is we’re all just figuring it out. Great article thank you ??
