As a service provider, over the past few years I have become increasingly aware that lots of business leaders (in particular, those who commission people development and leadership training) would prefer their people to have access to regular ongoing support from the company providing that vital service. In other words; not just training, but ongoing refresher sessions plus some coaching and mentoring when required too.
Establishing relationships with clients, who know, like and trust us, is a key part of what we do – and we’re usually able to oblige with great-value proposals.
So what’s prompted me to write this post? Well, since the turn of the year, several clients have openly stated: “We don’t want our staff to be sheep-dipped - however well it’s done - and then abandoned!”
Indeed, many have specifically requested that our proposed solutions for delivery in 2017 be structured in such a way that we (as the outsourced training service provider) effectively become a part of their team.
Working together over an agreed period of time helps raise joint-accountability levels and often proves to be a better way to improve results for individuals and the organisation.
What do you favour from your training providers – 'sheep-dip' or ongoing working relationship?
