An Attitude of Expectancy
An attitude of expectancy is a mindset filled with hope for the future. The attitude you have while waiting for that future is incredibly important. Remember as a kid waiting for Christmas?
For weeks you were excited and filled with anticipation and expectations about all that Santa was going to bring. You had faith, complete trust, and confidence that something great and amazing was going to happen on Christmas Day! That’s what we’re talking about here.
You need something you’re excited about in your future, drawing you forward. Something important enough to wake you up every day excited about what life has in store. Something that’s going to move you toward your future.
My Christmas Expectation
The year was 1969. My mother was getting me and my 3 brothers ready for bed. Yes, four boys, 2 beds, same room. As she reached down to kiss me good night, I told my mother that I wanted a guitar for Christmas.
She looked a little surprised. I went on to explain to her that it was something I wanted more than anything I had ever wanted in my entire life.
I didn’t learn until much later in life that, at that time, there was no way my parents could afford a guitar. My dad was going to seminary to finish his master’s degree and working full-time; it was all they could do to keep the bills paid.
As a kid, I was completely oblivious to my parent’s financial situation and was busy dreaming about my guitar. I had complete faith and trust that something amazing was going to happen for me on Christmas Day!
My mom will tell you that I was on my best behavior, anticipating that all I had to do was be good and Santa was going to bring me a guitar.
Meanwhile, my mom and dad spent many hours working on making it happen. My mom and dad both worked part-time jobs to raise the money, but as Christmas rolled around, it became clear that they were going to be short.
My dad carpooled with 3 other men to save wear and tear on their car and gas money. On their way home from their last day of school the week of Christmas, they pulled over to let my dad out, where my mom was always waiting to pick him up; they got out and congregated around the trunk of the car.
They opened the trunk and pulled out a slightly used beautiful guitar. These 3 men had pooled their money together and purchased a guitar to give to my dad, a man they had become great friends with over the last few years.
All my mom and dad could do was cry.?They hugged and thanked them for such an amazing gesture of generosity. Needless to say, they were overwhelmed with gratitude.

Expect Success
When you expect success, you’re more likely to have success. The expectations you have about your future change how you see and think about your life, and they reveal what you think and believe about your future.
Those expectations equip and prepare you mentally, physically, and emotionally to succeed in life. The attitude you display towards your circumstances is a verbal and mental manifestation of your expectations.
Since you can consciously change the expectations in your mind, you have the final say as to what attitude you use in every situation. You have the power to remove negative expectations and replace them with positive ones.
Here’s what’s so amazing. YOU get to choose your targets for the future. YOU get to choose to let your positive attitude be your aim at those targets, and even more important, YOU get to choose the Actions (goals) that move you daily towards those targets.
Expect Great Things to Happen
Your attitude will be the catalyst for every failure, setback, or accomplishment you experience in your life. An Attitude of Expectancy is the positive understanding that despite your flaws, your circumstances, and your current situation, You expect great things to happen to you every day.
With that in mind, you can’t afford to let life’s difficulties and adversities become your excuses for not having a Positive Attitude. Refuse to justify griping, complaining, and whining about what life brings your way.
Instead,?let your Positive Attitude become your savior and your rescuer from life’s storms. A positive attitude and mindset will be the sails and the wind that carries you safely through life’s toughest storms.
An Attitude of Expectancy about who you’re becoming and your vision for your future attracts opportunities for success.
When you’re able to see the positive, even in life’s most difficult circumstances, you’re on your way to using everything the universe throws at you FOR your good.
Despite your flaws, your circumstances, and your current situation, you can EXPECT great things to happen FOR you every day.
