Do you enjoy your role? I do.
I wanted to post something a little different than the norm, in the hope that some might take inspiration from it.
I have been a part of JBP approaching 8 years now.?In previous employment, I always felt like a very small cog in a very large wheel, a mid-level employee with very little challenges and opportunities.
I was not only delighted to get offered a role at JBP, but excited at the prospect of working for a company that was an industry leader in the supply of pipe, flange, fittings & valves with well over 200+ years of experience. It was a role I knew I could personally grow in and looked forward to some big challenges and opportunities.?Knowing I could learn from others and expand my skills, let me happily accepted the role just a few weeks before Christmas.
Being invited to their Christmas party before I was due to start, helped me to settle in and get to know my peers quickly and less formally.?This really helped ease my nerves of starting a new role in a line of work that was very much new to me.
In the eight years I have been employed with JBP, I have worked with some of the best in the business.?People who have not only invested a great deal of time in me, but also helped me develop my skills and experience in the sector, passing on the knowledge they had learnt throughout the years.
Starting out in Internal sales, then moving on to External Sales for 4 years, I am now an Account Manager, managing and supporting many of the top EPC operators and fabricators in the Oil & Gas sector.?I work with a great team, people I now consider as close friends, and can honestly say morale and employee recognition is at the forefront of the companies’ mind, hence the long list of long serving employees.

The sentiment behind this post is really just to say a big thanks to all the staff who have invested time in me, believed in me, and helped develop my skills over the years. I am at a stage now where I feel I can confidently mentor others along with any new employees, and pass on the knowledge and skills that I have been taught.
Investing time in staff is extremely important and it’s something you never forget, it’s what leads to staff loyalty and long-term service within the company, and I look forward to more years of service with JBP!
Every day is a challenge, but it’s a welcome and refreshing challenge, this keeps our passion right at the top and makes you proud to be part of such a great and well established business.
A final thanks to everyone I have supported in the industry over the years. Its what makes the role as exciting and as challenges as it is. Doing your problem solving is what we pride ourselves on.
