Do You Care Enough to Make a Difference?

Do You Care Enough to Make a Difference?

The people caring about each other, their work, and their organization is one of the biggest factors in creating a great place to work and a more competitive organization. Caring brings everything together into wholeness.

Do you care enough to:

  • Notice when someone is happy?
  • Notice when someone may need a little boost?
  • Pick up a discarded piece of paper?
  • Wipe the water off the sink after you use it?
  • Make sure safety signs are neat and readable?
  • Speak to someone who is bullying?
  • Keep the workplace free of tripping hazards?
  • Report leaks that need fixing?
  • Be sure that fire extinguishers are not blocked?
  • Etc.

Each person taking a modest responsibility to care enough to make a difference is key to building high morale and creative energy.

When people do not care, the organization shows it.

  • Walking past things that need fixing leaves a mess that grows
  • Ignoring leaks and other mechanical problems just leads to more troubles
  • Tolerating bullies shuts down the important, free flow of information as well as hurts people
  • Ignoring tripping hazards leads to injuries
  • Etc.

The ugliness goes on and on. The focus on the negative pulls everyone down and spoils everything.

Caring is about standing up and taking responsibility for yourselves and your place so you can all be the best you can be.

It is not about trying to please management or look good or to make someone else look bad or take control. It is about making a positive difference all around you.

When everyone is caring and trying to be their best, all the work gets better and more effective. Through caring you can build a winning organization. In this time of political strife, we can still be winners, IF we care enough.
