Do you belong to a networking group?
Being a member of one can significantly boost your knowledge and your career. They provide valuable opportunities to?make connections ?and develop rapport with individuals who have common interests and goals.
When you participate in?meaningful activities ?with people?you trust ?and share your purpose you also increase your social capital, which is something you must strive to do.
Now the real question is, have you found a networking group that is right for you?
Maybe you have joined some and even met up a few times, but they just weren’t quite what you were looking for. And there is nothing wrong with that! Each group will not always meet the needs of everyone.
What can you do if you can’t find one? Create your own! Here are a few things to consider that will help you start a networking group that gets results.
Outline Your Goals
There should be?clearly defined goals ?that are acknowledged and accepted by each participant. Members must support its objectives for it to be effective. If you put in the time and effort to develop a group that brings like-minded people together who share similar goals, you will reap the many rewards that come from having a?networking mindset . When everyone does not share the same mission of the group – then all your efforts are for nothing.

Determine Member Selection and Size
Regulating the number of members and how you will invite new people to join makes it impactful. You want to offer membership to high-caliber individuals who are front-runners in their field and on the road to being successful. And you need to keep it intimate enough to enable everyone the opportunity to make connections that are valuable. Networking groups offer the chance to foster relationships with those who provide worth and a place for you to?extend value ?as well. Through group meetings, you continuously build on?how beneficial ?your association with members can be.
Give It Structure
Your networking group needs to have a solid foundation that will aid in its success. There are different kinds such as?mastermind groups ?or?mentorship groups ?and you must define yours. What name have you selected for it? Is it formal or casual? Who will lead the meetings? How frequently should you gather? Should it?be virtual ?or in-person? How often are members supposed to participate? When you?give it structure ?everyone goes into it knowing what is expected of them – and what they can expect from the group.
Maintain It
Running a networking group is not a one-and-done deal. Show you are serious! Create a private group?on LinkedIn , initiate a group text, or utilize another way to keep the lines of communication open outside of regularly scheduled meetings. This allows for group members to support one another while continuing to?build rapport ?and provide value to each other. It really is true that you must?invest in the success of others ?to help you succeed, too.

3 年I like ours mate!
Timely post Adam R. Connors ??. Not all networking groups are the same, for a variety of reasons. If you find a great group, you have to show up consistently, connect with members of the group, give on a regular basis in any way you can, and do what you say you are going to do when you say you are going to do it. Raise your profile by getting involved. It's not only who you know, but who knows, likes and trust you that really matters.

3 年This year I finally started “formally” networking and I am in both BNI and ProVisors. I cannot express how much these groups have changed my life. I feel like a more well rounded person who is better equipped to give my clients the best possible guidance. And there is no greater joy than introducing people to other people. I have you to thank for helping me get the ball rolling!
