Do You Believe Growth= Profit, Profit & Profit?

Most businessmen believe that business growth is all about “more profits”. And hence, they focus their attention on either increasing sales, or reducing cost.

This might seem most sensible and businessman-like. But this is not an ideal strategy for a businessman who is visionary and wants to build a business empire. This is infact the strategy of the “self employed”, where the idea is only “more profits”.

If you want to be a serious businessman, then you should have a new definition for growth. In this definition, “profit” is the by-product or side dish- not the main dish. So what is the main dish? It can something more precious and meaningful to you. Like having 100s of branches across the world, your brand having presence in all parts of the world, a company where lakhs of people work, or a company that brings about an innovation, that changes the world to a better place.

Most “self employed” entrepreneurs will laugh away at these thoughts, as useless and unachievable dreams. They are right. Entrepreneurs with low self esteem, will not be able to dream or achieve it. But no matter how small you are, how deep in pits of failure you are, or how much money you owe to the world, if you have the fire deep within, you have a chance to be extraordinary. Because every extraordinary success story you hear today, had such a humble beginning.

So don’t run behind “money or profit maximization”, run behind a growth plan based on a vision.
